THE LATEST MIGHTY DUCKS NEWS.

LOS ANGELES TIMES: Eric Stephens reports Anaheim Mighty Ducks GM Brian Burke would still like to free up some cap space to bring his payroll in at $37 million and "left open the possibility" he might swing a trade to accomplish this. He suggested he'd still like to bring some more grit to his roster.

Spector's Note: The most trade whispers about the Ducks settle on Petr Sykora and his $3.1 million contract.

So how about Jarko Ruutu? please don't let it be cooker.....sigh....

Now that would be a strong offensive right winger for the Sedin Line, now wouldn't it?

yeah, I suggested Ruuts for Carney a while ago, but frankly I don't think the Canucks can afford either (certainly not Sykora ...not crazy about him anyway ..) Also, can we afford to give up the grit Ruuts brings?

We have a lot of needs and very little cash right now.

Sykora as the our 2nd line RW would be fine but not at 3.1 million a year. Maximum we can afford is about 2 million and that is with us moving, probably, two other players (Cookie and Ruttuu). So I find it difficult to believe this would be a likely trade.

Ruttuu for Carney? Possible.

Ruttuu for Carney? Possible.

Anaheim is moving Salei before they move Carney. I think he would have been named their captain last year over Rucchin if he wasn't injured for the start of the season.

Salary dumps have changed - they're not giving up prospects anymore. It's just draft picks now. I'd say a second round draft pick should grab Salei once Burke gets to the end of his rope.

I'd trade Ruutu for Leclerc or something, i think he's affordable, but i like Jarkko.

I say let Burke sit there and deal with his crap.

That would be a great deal for the Canucks.

I think the signing of Carter changes whom the nucks are going for
