We all saw his salary on the NHLPA site days ago but the signing was finally confirmed yesterday...

Mighty Ducks left wing Mike Leclerc has accepted a $1.14 million qualifying offer, bringing to 14 the number of NHL players under one-way contracts to the club for the 2005-06 season.

...The NHL lockout that canceled the 2004-05 season might have worked to Leclerc's advantage, giving him more time to rehabilitate.

"He's ready, he's fit and he's raring to go," said Art Breeze, Leclerc's Calgary-based agent. "There is no question ... that Mike Leclerc is ready for a huge season."

...By agreeing to a one-year contract, Leclerc stands to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, when the minimum age drops to 29.

"No question, his preference is to remain in Anaheim," Breeze said.

I always try to stay positive, but not this time: wasted money, he will get injured in twenty games and he'll say good bye to the season. He has glass knees.

It's a no-risk venture. I think we'll probably see Leclerc's best season considering he's on the verge of unrestricted free agency. He seems like that type of player.

I don't think Leclerc has much value outside of Anaheim. He hasn't had many good seasons statistically, and may be considered injury prone to many teams. Beside, I doubt Leclerc wants to leave Anaheim. What I mean is that I doubt he'll get more money playing somewhere else.
