Ok guys I need some help on the rules. I haven't heard many of the details with them.

I know a shootout is in place, but will it happen after one 4 on 4 OT or does it go directly to the shootout at the end of regulation?

Also will they use the shootout in the playoffs?

Does the team that loses the shootout still get a point?

Yes, the normal 4-on-4 OT period first.

No. Same play until you win we've always had.

Points are the same. Win/lose in shootout is the same as win/lose in OT... 2 pts for winner and 1 pt for loser.

Ok boys, lets raise the stakes in this thread. Game tied, Stanley Cup final 2009, Game 7. Ducks are awarded a penalty shot in the final minute of the game. Which one of these players would you choose to take the shot?

1) Chistov
2) Lupul
3) Getzlaf
4) Perry
5) Ryan

I love Lupul's shot and Getzlaf's determination but Perry IMO is the guy that comes through when the team needs him the most. He showed alot at the WJC and then leading his team to the Memorial cup. I hope I won't regret saying this later but the guy is a winner.

I'd take...Lupul, our sniper.

Will the goals a player scores in a shootout count towards his overall goal total for the season and career? Or will shootout goals be a different set of stats completely.

If it's the former, then player stats would be corrupted.

Their stats would not be corrupt, the NHL has total power on what it records and stuff, so it can't be wrong in what it does that way. Anyhow, they didn't do it in the AHL, so why would they do different in the NHL? Nothing has been said anyway, so we've gotta wait to see what happens.

I heard that shootout goals decides only winner, nothing else. Players don`t get their goals, goalis GAA ranking is not changing. So shootout goals are not changing overall statistics
