The Los Angeles Kings placed the most prospects on Hockey's Future's Top 50 NHL prospects list for Fall 2005, with four. Eight teams have three prospects on the list: Pittsburgh, Washington, Chicago, Florida, Carolina, New York Rangers, Anaheim, and Minnesota. Five teams have no prospects on the list.

50-26 are in that article...the rest are coming soon..

36. Bobby Ryan, RW, Anaheim
Bobby Ryan is a big kid who bring a solid effort every night and contributes offensively. The 6’1, 213 lb forward selected second overall behind only phenom Sidney Crosby in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He is a prototypical power forward, who thrives down low and in the corners. He is strong on the puck and works effectively in traffic. Through it all, Ryan has shown that his dedication and determination is unchallenged. Ryan will more than likely continue to develop with the Owen Sound Attack for at least one more season.

so we have 2 prospects in the top 25. Which of Getzlaf, Perry and Smid got dissed?

Perry had an amazing MVP year in the OHL and Getzlaf is a consensus top 25 prospect...so I assume Smid didn't make the cut.

How is Stewart ahead of Ryan?

Smid gets no respect how can you put al montoya and leave off smid?

Bobby Ryan Getzlaf

Damn. Smid likely gets no respect again, and I'd say Ryan is quite a bit too low also.

Oh well. At least THN loves our prospects.

I have this bad feeling that it's Perry since Schremp has been always ranked above him, even during last year's superb OHL year. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, I think it might be Perry too but I don't see how he or Smid could be left off.

I agree Ryan is a bit low, how is Schremp at 29 with Ryan at 36? It will be interesting to see where Getz and Perry fall in the top 25 though.

I doubt its Perry. With all of his accomplishments this year I don't see him being over-looked. When judging Smid by his stats alone I could see him being left out, even though he shouldn't be.

Well, Smid will just prove them wrong when he dominates in the NHL. ;)

Check Olesz stats and you won't get excited either, but it's ot a big surprise that Czech prospect are underrated, to me also Olesz is low.

Montoya still making the list... :shakehead

That's the attitude you have to take...because it doesn't really matter where he's ranked in these things...it's about as useful as a College Football preseason poll. There's some truth to it, but a lot of misinformation too.

11-25 is up now...

23. Corey Perry, RW, Anaheim Mighty Ducks
Perry started his memorable year as a vital part of Team Canada’s championship, registering seven points in six games. Back with his London Knights, Perry produced a grand total of 168 points in 78 games (season and playoffs combined). He was deservedly named the OHL Most Outstanding Player of The Year and Memorial Cup MVP. Like many 2003 draftees, he doesn’t have anything left to prove in the CHL. If he can’t make the Ducks roster, he will earn plenty of ice time with Portland, the new Anaheim affiliate.

19. Ryan Getzlaf, C, Anaheim Mighty Ducks
Getzlaf scored 54 points in 51 games for the Calgary Hitmen in 2004-05, down from 75 points in 49 games the year before. But he continued to assert himself as a top power forward prospect, something that NHL organizations covet. With his 6’4 frame, Getzlaf dominates in traffic and close to the net. At the conclusion of the WHL season, this physical offensive talent earned himself a contract with Cincinnati of the AHL where he had a solid five points in ten playoff games. In the upcoming season, he’ll be auditioning for a spot with Anaheim.

Beniot Pouliot at 24 is crap...he should be in the 40-50 range.

Jack Johnson 16th...should be no higher than 30th.

Ryan at 36th is looking worse and worse.

Also Getzlaf probably should be higher and Perry should have gotten in the top 20.

Oh well I know every fan wants their prospects higher but I think we have some good cases for it...

I don't mind where they are ranked but then when you look at some other players, you think they could be a little higher. With Schremp at 29 and Pouliot at 24, it throws off Perry and Getz I think.

I don't see how anyone in this draft outside of Crosby could be ranked in the Top 25, they do not have the pedigree (albeit still not a long one) of the other big prospects who have been dominating for multiple years now.

I agree on Pouliot, he is this year Andrew Ladd, I just can't believe he's that high, even his numbers are good but nothing more.
JJ deserve something from 25 to 30 IMO.
Ryan is fine at 36# to tell you the truth, I expect a great year NEXT year to prove everyone he's a legit top prospect.
Getzlaf is coming from a mediocre season in Calgary and a fantastic WJC, I think he's fine in that position.
I expect to see Perry in action in the AHL, he had unbelievable numbers in the OHL, but his team was the best in the CHL hands down.

"The best of the rest"

Defensemen: (Belle is the final d-man who made the top 50...heres the rest ranked)

12. (50) Shawn Belle, Dallas

13. Ryan Whitney, Pittsburgh
14. Denis Grebeshkov, Los Angeles
15. Carlo Colaiacovo, Toronto
16. Trevor Daley, Dallas
17. Tim Gleason, Los Angeles
18. Steve Eminger, Washington
19. Ladislav Smid, Anaheim
20. Mark Stuart, Boston
21. Matt Greene, Edmonton
22. A.J. Thelen, Minnesota
23. Christian Ehrhoff, San Jose
24. Mike Egener, Tampa Bay
25. Brent Burns, Minnesota
26. Boris Valabik, Atlanta
27. Matt Carle, San Jose
28. Jeff Woywitka, St. Louis
29. Brian Lee, Ottawa
30. Marc Staal, NY Rangers

Whitney is the only d-man from 12-20 that I would even start to consider voting higher than Smid. Daley at 16 is funny, I wouldn't have him in the top 30.

That is a very bad list IMO. Whitney, Cola, Eminger, Grebeshkov, and Smid should easily be in the top 50 over Belle. Personally, I'm not sure who else also to take out, but most of those guys should be in the top 50 as it is.
