Heimy 08-07-2005, 12:52 PM With the Ducks up against the cap, here's a proposal that would help lighten your salary situation. Florida has some useful players signed cheap so here's my offer. Feel free to counter/modify...
Carney and Sykora to the Panthers for any two of Huselius, Kolnik, Nederost, Cairns or Karpovtsev
Depending on who you select, the Ducks could add as much as $4 million (roughly) in cap space.
Kick it around...

We'll throw in a pick too!
Professor John Frink 08-07-2005, 01:21 PM I think these two might actually make good trading partners.
However I don't think you will be seeing Carney dealt away(although I may be wrong).
I and many others on this board think Salei is the one who is on his way out on defense.
On the trade I think Huselius and Nederost would be the two I would target for this team. Or I would try to substitute Nederost with a younger d-man like Mezei

How about Huselius/Nedorost/Mezei for Sykora/Salei?
Dirk316 08-07-2005, 01:26 PM I doubt Burke will look to add two soft Euros to this team when hes stil talking about adding toughness.

Mezei is off the table. Obviously this deal is based primarily on the Ducks cap concerns vs the Cats cap room. I realize the players you would be getting back are not quite the same value of those you deal away but those 2 forwards you selected DO have potential to improve. And remember, Florida is taking on roughly $4 million in salary.
A deal like this ain't pretty but it's a hell of a lot prettier than giving JR AND a 3rd away or dealing Markov for a 3rd just to get under the cap.
caliamad 08-07-2005, 01:50 PM well also keep in mind, if everyone signs their QOs, the ducks will be at the cap, not over it...
I also think if burke was to make any move, it would to get bigger forwards and to go "less european" or so he says.
I think he really wanted to dump salary too, he'd start with federov, and try to sign a younger replacement in next year's free agency...

Very good point, as I look over their roster I don't think we would be good trading partners then.
Pepper 08-07-2005, 02:52 PM Cairns would bring lots of grit & toughness, ok he's no Salei but with Ozo and Nieds we don't need that much hands.
McDonald19 08-07-2005, 04:19 PM Carney isn't going anywhere.
I think there is a good chance of Sykora and Salei being packaged in a trade together though.
I agree with others who mentioned that Burke probably wouldn't want two softer European players in return.
Spankatola Jamnuts 08-07-2005, 04:52 PM If Carney goes it'll be at the deadline, assuming we're out of the race by then.

No more euros, especially a bust like huselius!

I wouldn't quite call Huselius a bust (close though) the guy has skills he just seems too uninterested to use them sometimes.
Anyways, what's it gonna take to get Sykora from y'all?

No thanks. We just got rid of Smirnov...we don't need another one.

Sounds like Chistov.

I personally do not want to get rid of Sykora, theres not alot left in free agency so if your trading him you need good talent in return. I consider Huselius a bust and the other guys you listed will likely, never have a significant impact.
Bryan Burke is going to stray away from soft players, as well as those like Huselius, who as you say seems uninterested at times.
