Is Niedermayer realistic? I'll be surprised if he ends up here, my guess is that he'll have to sign for a lot less in Vancouver. But maybe he'll do that and sign here.
This however is not the point of this topic. The point is with Malik signing in NY (thankfully), they need to replace him. Bieksa needs another year of seasoning in my mind, however he should be the #7 dman on the Canucks when called upon.
How does Dan McGillis sound to replace Marek Malik?

How about Scott Lachance? Anyone still remember him?

Yes, and thankfully he was let go. McGillis is a far superior dman than Lachance.

I like your suggestion of Dan McGilis.
Although, nieds may not be out of the question.
Maybe Naslund signed for alot less to allow the canucks to sign scott, or maybe scott will sign for alot less.
His agent says he wants to command the upward, realistically on the open market he would get around 6 to 6.5.. but at the end of the day Scott is the one who makes the ultimate decision, he very well may sign for 4 if he really wants to play in Vancouver.

I would love to see the Canucks trade for one of Nashville's young D-men. Hamhuis, Suter, Weber, Klein all seem ready or close enough to play. I think the asking price would be fairly high for the first 3 and I don't know if Klein is big enough to play a shut down roll. Any idea what it would take to get one of Hamhuis, Weber or Suter?

I like the idea of McGillis, but what about Brad Bombardir or Brad Ference?
EDIT: Looks like McGillis is signed.
