Foote played on a broken ..erm..foot.

I forgot all about this but just remembered. In an interview a few days back on the radio with Morris he said that Foote played against the Wild with a broken foot. That's the first time I've heard that publicly admitted at all. Anyone recall which game it was that Foote took one while blocking a shot?

Ok, he was injured in game five and sat out game six, even though he tried to go in pre game warm ups...

Foote sat out Monday night's 3-2 overtime loss to Minnesota because of what Avalanche officials said was a sore foot. He was replaced by Chris McAllister, who had not played since March 8.

"He's our No. 1 defenseman, so it's going to affect you, especially when he plays 25-30 minutes," Colorado defenseman Greg de Vries said. "It was tough out there, but hopefully he'll be back in the lineup soon."

Arguably the team's most physical player, Foote is listed as questionable for Game 7 tonight at the Pepsi Center.

Foote took part in pregame warm-ups before determining his foot was too sore to play after he had been hit twice by the puck in Game 5.

He went on to play in game 7 with the broken foot.

This was never publicly known as far as I can recall until Morris let it slip.

I thought everyone knew about this. I remember hearing about it before Game 7.

It was said repeatedly that he had a bruised or sore foot, never a broken one.

I think it was just speculation. I heard everything from a sore foot to a broken ankle.

And this is why Foote is the best player on our team.....If we did not have Super Joe, I'd name this man captain, heck, I'd name him captain now, no offense to Sakic at all.

Agreed. I think the only reason it's Sakic (other than the obvious reasons) is that he's been around longer. Foote would captain most teams in this league, he's my kind of soldier.

Are you thinking of Blake (Game 7) ?

no, but that certainly was a terrible call in my bias opinion :D. I'm talking about the penalty on Foote behind Minnesota's net. The powerplay resulted in a goal for Minnesota which tied the game. I believe it was game 7 *memory is foggy*, but it was the first Minesota goal not the one off Blakes.

That's a solid description of him. Like Lidstrom and unlike Hatcher, he's a guy everybody wants on their team even if you hate the jersey he wears.
