Benoit Hogue was not offered a contract and was released from his tryout with CBJ on Monday...

Any thoughts :dunno:

Good news for the Jackets. It's not that I don't want the guy to make a living, but we don't need him in any capacity.

Who do you all think is next?

I'm not sure why Eriksson is still around - could he actually make the team? I hope not. Whenever I've seen him play, he was usually good for at least one mistake per shift, which is the last thing this team needs.

I thought I read somewhere that Houge was willing to go to the minors to prove he can still play. I think that if he does that and plays well, we could have room on a 3rd or 4th line if there is some unforseen injury. In the off chance that we make a playoff push, an extra vet who has been there wouldnt hurt. Even if its mostly in the lockeroom.

I liked him for some reason, couldnt really tell you why, but I dont see a spot for him on the team in its current form. As the season goes on though, you never know. Philly got some use out of a recylced Joe Sacco last year down the stretch. Van Impe was decent for us until the injuries hit.

As for Ericksson, he frustrated me as a top 4 in Toronto. But since he made it to the NHL at a relatively young age, we tend to forget that he is still somewhat young. Not too old to improve his game still. I could be comfortable with him as a no. 7 guys or an injury call up if he does well in Syracuse. It will take a lot to convice me that he can be trusted with top 4 duty though.

Hogue is 36 and missed last season. I don't know if he is enough of a leader to take a roster spot in Syracuse from a kid who can make more of the opportunity. He sure isn't going to make a lot of noise in the NHL again. I know he wants to keep going with his career - I wish him luck with it. I'm just glad that we aren't in need of his services.
