the NHL to PDX was a big campaign here http://www.nhltopdx.com/ for a while, I followed it before I moved because I knew I eventually wanted to end up here. But it seems to have lost steam a bit, now the focus seems to be on getting the Montreal Expos to relocate to Portland. Two of the biggest cheers of the night were when the Jumbotron found people in the stands with "Portland Needs an NHL team" and "We should be doing this 41 nights a year"

I have yet to get to a Winterhawks game, but apparently they have drawn as much as 15,000 for a WHL team, that's pretty damn impressive when The Devils and some others can't pull that most nights. The game was also started with the the rally cry of "Let's Play HOCKEY!"
