ALF AmericanLionsFan 05-03-2005, 06:08 PM 3 to 1 in favor of the Slovaks
wassup77 05-03-2005, 06:43 PM Slovaks 3-0
PPquarterback 05-03-2005, 09:46 PM It's hard for me to say, but this will be just another game from the "try to score if you can crash the wall" series. With absolutely awfull quality of the ice and passive defensive play of the Austrians yet another boring version of "game formerly known as hockey" dissaster is coming
The only worth-of-watching game so far was the SVK-RUS matchup so let's wait for some real hockey.
Anyway, 4-1 Slovaks :yo:
Tricolore#20 05-03-2005, 09:54 PM I say 3-1 Slovakia.
They'll score 3 early, and then sit back like the Filc regime, preventing any offense from taking place. Then they'll see Austria attack until they make it interesting.
fredez 05-03-2005, 09:58 PM I smell a blowout : 7-0 Slovakia
Palffy (2), Marian Hossa (2), Zednik (1), Satan (1), Chara (1)
Tricolore#20 05-03-2005, 09:59 PM Anyone know why Divis isn't playing for Austria. If he were in goal, the game would be close.
wilka91* 05-03-2005, 10:02 PM Austria 3, Slovakia 2 ... or Slovakia 6, Austria 0
wilka91* 05-03-2005, 10:04 PM Anyone know why Divis isn't playing for Austria. If he were in goal, the game would be close.
injured

Yes, a big blow to the Austrians
Buya89 05-04-2005, 01:58 AM Slovaks with super Offense 6-3 easy win
Fan.At 05-04-2005, 02:09 AM Divis had surgery on his shoulder earlier and he is still recovering. He should be ready in time for the start of next season.
I expect another entertaining game like the Russia - Austria game on opening day. Slovakia should win this one, but the austrian team will give his all to let the 5-0 against Belarus be forgotten.
Starting goalie Bernd Brückler (who did a good job so far) will probably be given a rest, so Patrick Machreich will start todays game.
Reilly311 05-04-2005, 02:11 AM How has Palffy been playing so far?
Fan.At 05-04-2005, 04:02 AM How has Palffy been playing so far?
One of the best Slovakians, fast skating and hard shot. He is more effective than most other forwards on his team who prefer a passing game.
At least thats what i have seen in the first game.
He has even been voted best player of his team for the first game.
MrRuin 05-04-2005, 04:44 AM Yes, a big blow to the Austrians
Too many big blows for austria to compensate unfortunately...
5-1 slovakia
TORRUS 05-04-2005, 10:00 AM Do you guys think that Austrians will give their best or they won't since they have nothing to play for? They should give their best (because of the fans), but will they?!
ibleedkings 05-04-2005, 10:12 AM Ziggy with a hat! 6-0 Slovakia.
Stana will be our goalie for this game.
I expect boring game, 3:0 for SVK.
TORRUS 05-04-2005, 01:59 PM Will anyone be watching the game? I would appreciate some updates. At least after the periods...
PPquarterback 05-04-2005, 02:30 PM 1:0 SVK (Gaborik) :handclap:
Berkut 05-04-2005, 03:02 PM Is Austria playing more or less the same way they did against Russia?
Fan.At 05-04-2005, 03:13 PM Is Austria playing more or less the same way they did against Russia?
they are trying to. but slovakia is able to put a consistant pressure on the austrian defense, austrians were just able to go a few breakaways...
outstanding for the slovaks is ziggy palffy. the austrian defense has no idea how to shut him down.
ALF AmericanLionsFan 05-04-2005, 04:26 PM Any update on the score?
Cruiser008 05-04-2005, 04:36 PM 8-1 Slovaks
Tricolore#20 05-04-2005, 04:43 PM Slovakia goes on an unbelievable tear in the 3rd period. They score 4 goals in 5 minutes. Five goals for the period.
ALF AmericanLionsFan 05-04-2005, 04:43 PM 8-1 Slovaks
Holy smokes!
Shack 05-04-2005, 05:08 PM Sloakia is going far in this tournament....

Are those the goalscorers? Did Zednik score a goal? I haven't seen it posted yet.
fredez 05-04-2005, 05:23 PM From iihf.com, yes
Riddarn 05-04-2005, 05:23 PM Slovakia goes on an unbelievable tear in the 3rd period. They score 4 goals in 5 minutes. Five goals for the period.
Slovakia tends to score alot of goals against inferior opposition. It says nothing of their actual form or team play.
Art Vandelay 05-04-2005, 05:26 PM From the few glimpses i saw the Austrian goalie was awful..

Who cares who it was against. With the goals, Slovakia has surpassed Russia for first place in the pool. That is mightily important.
And fredez, are you sure Zeddy got the goal? From my perspective, here are the goalscorers from the game:
1:0 Gaborik
2:0 Palffy
3:0 Visnovsky
4:0 Marian Hossa
1:4 Unterluggauer
5:1 Strbak
6:1 Handzus
7:1 Strbak
8:1 Palffy
gopher 05-04-2005, 05:46 PM if our team is`nt able to step up the game in the regulation,
austria will definitely play in group b for the next years.
that said, this team has no future.
what a crap.

No they won`t the goals against Austria won`t count in the qualifying round
The Qualification Round consists of two groups with six teams in each, playing a single round robin series. These teams carry forward the points gained in the Preliminary Round with the teams that they have played and advance with. Teams, which have played in the Preliminary Round, do not meet again in the Qualification Round.

Even though Germany aren't doing too well either I actually feel sorry for the Austria fans.
Tough to play that bad at home. I have a very good friend in Vienna and he was so looking forward to this. :(
Hey maybe you'll beat Germany in the playdowns and everything will be good for you! ;)

Sweeet. I was waiting for him to get some points on the board. He's been very disappointing every single time I've seen him play for Slovakia. This has to be the tournament for him where he turns it around.

He is disappointing again. He was standing in front of the net and Strbak hit him with his shot.
