Unfortunately I'm already back from Vienna. I really had a good time. Vienna in general is a fantastic city and one of my favourites in Europe. And it's just a 4 hour drive from Munich, where I live.
There is a great atmosphere in and around the arena. There are a lot of Czech, Slovaks, Germans and Swiss fans as their countries are just around the corner. Especially the Czechs and Slovaks bringing a fantastic atmosphere singing and chanting all the game. There are no problems at all between the fans. In front of the Vienna Stadthalle the installed a fan village with a big beer tent where you can watch the games also on screen. The fans from the different countries are partying and drinking together. During the RUS-SVK game I was with my Russian Ovechkin jersey between hundres of Slovaks and had lot of fun with them.
Especially when Kozlov scored the 3-3 it was a great feeling.
The only negative thing was that the area around the arena looked like a building site, not very professional preparation in my opinion. And the ice was crap.
In general the european hockey fans are making a better atmosphere and party than the guys from N.A. I was in Salt Lake 3 years ago and that was really boring. Looking forward to visiting Riga next year.
