Kaizer 04-30-2005, 06:20 AM I would advice you to take attention on:
Goalie: Simchuk - good goaltender, can steal some games but not elite. Also he likes to move net from it's position when it' becomes hot around the his net.
D-man: Klementyev - This guy is from Ak-Bars, not good and not bad.
Forward: Shakhraychuk - Tough guy and power forward from Dynamo Moscow. Average defensive and offencive skills - can score, can play on the crease, but he is built like tank.
Robertsson 4-ever 04-30-2005, 06:54 AM BTW, anyone know which goalie that have won the backup role behind Lundqvist?
wassup77 04-30-2005, 07:06 AM BTW, anyone know which goalie that have won the backup role behind Lundqvist?
I think I've heard BÅG saying Holmqvist somewhere...because he played so good against Russia i EHT.
Riddarn 05-01-2005, 02:31 AM I think I've heard BÅG saying Holmqvist somewhere...because he played so good against Russia i EHT.
Me too. :shakehead
Anyway, I think the Ukrainians will be a quite tough opponent. Any team with its roots in the soviet school of hockey is, with sufficient depth, a team that should not be taken lightly, as we all learned 3 years ago..
I say Sweden wins by a score of 4 to 2. Last goal empty netter.
norrisnick 05-01-2005, 03:30 AM I'm hoping for good things from the Wing contingent of Team Sweden. Too bad Holmstrom and Lidstrom passed up. :(
Kronblom 05-01-2005, 04:35 AM The WC debutant Johan Holmqvist will be in goal for this game, according to swedish media. And the winger Per-Johan Axelsson suffers from migraine.

Vikke 05-01-2005, 06:03 AM Well, I guess this might be a good game for Honken to play.
LET'S GO SWEDEN! :win:
SChan* 05-01-2005, 06:14 AM bad choice, they should play lundqvist from the start.
VanIslander 05-01-2005, 08:11 AM I'll probably watch some of this game tomorrow "on demand".
Could somebody keep an eye on Weinhandl and Franzén?
Prediction: 4-1 Sweden

According to this link Lundqvist will be in goal, maybe they've changed it again.
And Kahnberg will play with Jönsson/Nordström, I like it a lot! :handclap:
Riddarn 05-01-2005, 08:41 AM And Kahnberg will play with Jönsson/Nordström, I like it a lot! :handclap:
I'm 99% sure that we'll all have to watch Höglund float around on some line out there. Probably causing a goal or two by not back checking or taking his man and probably missing a few open net goal chances from 4 feet from the goal crease.

holy ****. He will be playing in the first line with Alfredsson and Påhlsson...oh noes :shakehead

Riddarn 05-01-2005, 01:05 PM Hoglund's shot hit Lundqvist in the neck and Henrik snapped :biglaugh:
Figures. Höglund can't hit a barn door when he has to but he can injure a goalie with eerily precise shots to the neck. :p:
Riddarn 05-01-2005, 01:09 PM 44 F HOGLUND Jonas - :thumbd:, why not Franzen :dunno: or anybody else?
I told you! :madfire: :soap:
This means that Franzén will be sitting and Höglund or, quite possibly Kahnberg, will be 13th forward when Axelsson comes back. :banghead:
Robertsson 4-ever 05-01-2005, 01:10 PM Anyone know if we'll go with 7 or 6 defenseman to start with?
If those are the defensepairings I'm more staisfied than before, good to split up Bäckman and Norström. Bäckman-Kronwall looks really good IMO, but I would rather see Jönsson-Sundin, than Jönsson-Rhodin, but hey, they'll probably play all 7 in a game like this.
Prediciton: 6-0 Sweden.
Robertsson 4-ever 05-01-2005, 01:11 PM I told you! :madfire: :soap:
This means that Franzén will be sitting and Höglund or, quite possibly Kahnberg, will be 13th forward when Axelsson comes back. :banghead:
When Axelsson comes back he'll play with Påhlsson and Alfredsson. It was meant that Höglund should sit this one out but PJ's sickness changed the plans.
Predatore 05-01-2005, 01:13 PM Things I like to see tonight:
- Swedish win (doh)
- Lundqvist/Holmqvist with the shutout
- Powerplay clicking
- Thomas Rhodin and Magnus Johansson not sucking so much
- 2 open ice hits signed Niklas Kronwall
- Jonathan Hedström roughing it up with a Ukranian player
Riddarn 05-01-2005, 01:15 PM When Axelsson comes back he'll play with Påhlsson and Alfredsson. It was meant that Höglund should sit this one out but PJ's sickness changed the plans.
You'd hope so, but what if that means that when Axelsson comes back, Höglund moves back with Nordström & Jönsson, and Kahnberg moves back to the bench? I don't see it as a very unrealistic scenario.
Vikke 05-01-2005, 01:21 PM Things I like to see tonight:

- Lundqvist/Holmqvist with the shutout
- Powerplay clicking
- Thomas Rhodin and Magnus Johansson not sucking so much
- 2 open ice hits signed Niklas Kronwall
- Jonathan Hedström roughing it up with a Ukranian player
I'll add a thing or two:
- Goal by Weinhandl
- Z showing some magic moves
- No Jonas Höglund :D
wilka91* 05-01-2005, 01:21 PM 7-1 Sweden.
FLYLine24 05-01-2005, 01:30 PM Lundqvist in net - 6-1
Holmqvist in net - 6-2
Riddarn 05-01-2005, 01:32 PM I hope you guys realize how rare it is for a Swedish national team to score more than 5 goals, against any opposition.
Robertsson 4-ever 05-01-2005, 01:33 PM I'll add a thing or two:
- Goal by Weinhandl
- Z showing some magic moves
- No Jonas Höglund :D
And I'll add some more things:
- A great goal with both the twins involved.
- Some flashy moves by Kahnberg, and a goal
wassup77 05-01-2005, 01:38 PM I'll add a thing or two:
- Goal by Weinhandl
- Z showing some magic moves
- No Jonas Höglund :D
Can I add some too?
-Sedins scoring a couple of points
-big Z of Sweden killing some penalties the beautiful way.

This game is ridiculous...I think the score will be 8-0
FLYLine24 05-01-2005, 02:25 PM Sweden scores!

wassup77 05-01-2005, 02:38 PM This game has been ALL Sweden after 10 minutes.
Yeah, those yellow guys wherever they're from have had like 1 shot on goal from the blueline :p:
arumiat 05-01-2005, 02:42 PM All i can see are 3 penalties in 10 minutes. Are they playing dirty or are they being stretched way too thin and getting frustrated?
Art Vandelay 05-01-2005, 02:44 PM Should have scored on that 5-3 PP...
Robertsson 4-ever 05-01-2005, 02:54 PM Magnus Johansson and Thomas Rhodin is looking excellent in this game, but it was expected vs this opponents. The question is what they'll do when the competition gets tougher. Aint bad for their confidence though.
Nice to see Kahnberg so far as well, looking really good on the FBK line. Seen nothing of Höglund yet.
The twins and Samuelsson must step up their game.
SChan* 05-01-2005, 02:56 PM Höglund is so awful that he wouldn't take a spot in a swedish div 1 team. Please sit this guy next game. He almost injured Lundqvist also.
VanIslander 05-01-2005, 02:56 PM The twins... must step up their game.
OMG. If I had a dime for every time that was said about them in Vancouver.
signed,
a Canucks fan
Riddarn 05-01-2005, 02:57 PM He has been a God so far! :)
Well, he is usually a pretty reliable offensive player when the tempo isn't too high. It's his play in the defensive zone against big, powerful players that he tends to fall behind.
Pretty hard to believe that this ukrainian team is a team that have players that are supposed to play in the RSL. They are not very fast skaters...
FLYLine24 05-01-2005, 02:57 PM BTW the 2nd goal was scored by Kenny Jonsson assisted by Hedstrom and Alfredsson..but the whole goal was pretty much by Hedstrom after he made 2 great moves to get by 2 players.
SChan* 05-01-2005, 02:58 PM BTW the 2nd goal was scored by Kenny Jonsson assisted by Hedstrom and Alfredsson..but the whole goal was pretty much by Hedstrom after he made 2 great moves to get by 2 players.
agreed.

Wasn't it Rhodin that made the pass to Kenny?

they have put the wrong name on the assist...it was Rhodin who did those deeks.
Art Vandelay 05-01-2005, 03:02 PM Wasn't it Rhodin that made the pass to Kenny?
I thought so too, the official ticker says Hedström and Alfie...:dunno:
wassup77 05-01-2005, 03:04 PM I thought so too, the official ticker says Hedström and Alfie...:dunno:
it couldn't have been Hedström since he has the stick on the other side.
FLYLine24 05-01-2005, 03:19 PM 2-1 now, breakaway goal scored, player opened up Lundqvist pads and snuck the puck between them.
wassup77 05-01-2005, 03:23 PM 2-1 now, breakaway goal scored, player opened up Lundqvist pads and snuck the puck between them.

GO Ukraine! :yo:
Art Vandelay 05-01-2005, 03:29 PM Belarus flashback...
Predatore 05-01-2005, 03:29 PM ouch 2-2
Ukranian shot deflected off Kenny Jönsson, just after an excellent breakaway save by Lundqvist...
FLYLine24 05-01-2005, 03:30 PM HUGE save by Lundqvist on the breakaway...then a guy shoots a wrist shot from the point..hits off a Swedens players arm and into the net. Lundqvist had no chance.
wassup77 05-01-2005, 03:32 PM this is embarassing...another flop for tre kronor :help:
wilka91* 05-01-2005, 03:42 PM this is embarassing...another flop for tre kronor :help:
heh
that explains why the Russians had so many troubles against Austria compared to Sweden ... because Sweden also sucks big time, just like Russia!
Robertsson 4-ever 05-01-2005, 03:49 PM Doesn't look good at all. Must have more speed and pass faster, and shoot!
Jönsson and Nordström is playing rather well though, I wouldn't be surprised if those two save Sweden today.
Riddarn 05-01-2005, 03:52 PM Brutal period.
Berkut 05-01-2005, 03:56 PM I hope Ukraine doesn't blew it at the end!
wassup77 05-01-2005, 03:58 PM heh

yes indeed...my guess is that Sweden will win the same way you did against Austria ;)
Aflredsson scores 3-2 then Weinhandl scores in empty net. :sarcasm:
Art Vandelay 05-01-2005, 04:00 PM Has anyone ever tried putting the Sedins on different lines?
wassup77 05-01-2005, 04:02 PM Has anyone ever tried putting the Sedins on different lines?
nope, maybe when one of them were injured. But I think they play much better together.
Riddarn 05-01-2005, 04:03 PM Has anyone ever tried putting the Sedins on different lines?
Hardy did it in the single tournament he used them in.. Then I think Daniel got injured and he didn't have to bother with it. I think it's bad that these guys got drafted by the same team. They should have been split up early on to develop their game on their own not continue along the same path year after year.
Diaboli 05-01-2005, 04:06 PM Looking good for team Sweden :D You seem to like exciting games against the Eastern European countries ;)
Art Vandelay 05-01-2005, 04:14 PM Lundqvist :bow::bow:

Art Vandelay 05-01-2005, 04:21 PM Hows Ukraine looking?
Alfredsson 3-2 :snide:
To answer your question, quite good, Sweden is awfull though.
Berkut 05-01-2005, 04:23 PM Alfredsson 3-2 :snide:
Damn it!!
reaper 05-01-2005, 04:26 PM Not good match by Sweden but not easy with ukraines hooking and slashing all the time. Referee Vladimir Sindler should give more penaltys...
reaper 05-01-2005, 04:31 PM How could Sindler miss that hooking by the ukraine on Zetterberg. This is ridicolous. Everytime i see Sindler he is so bad :(
VanIslander 05-01-2005, 04:36 PM Ukraine almost scored again.
A serious lack of defensive play.
Sweden should look at the Austrians play yesterday for lessons in team defense.
Sweden is playing like Slovakia, sporadically good and poorly.
The Czechs and Finns have been the most solid so far.
If Sweden doesn't put it together soon, they'll be going home after the quarterfinals.
reaper 05-01-2005, 04:40 PM Poor defense by Sweden but I have the feeling they will get better against other teams. Some amazing saves by Lundqvist   :handclap: :handclap:
Riddarn 05-01-2005, 04:42 PM Well, I was an empty netter short of my prediction. As I suspected, Sweden had big problems and didn't look sharp at all. And it seems that scoring and being the best skating forward of the night isn't enough for Kahnberg, last 10 minutes Höglund was back with his buddys from FBK. The most positive thing about this game was to see Kronwall and Bäckman. Two modern looking defenders, crisp passes, great offensive instincts and not too shabby in their own zone either.
Predatore 05-01-2005, 04:43 PM Looked like it always look when Sweden plays the b-nations (no offence ;)).
Lundqvist, Kronwall, Samuelsson, Bäckman and Zetterberg was most impressive IMO.
The Sedins were pretty much awful, too bad Hagos was cut..
wassup77 05-01-2005, 04:44 PM The score lies...3-2...hmm it should've been like 10-0?
The referee was a JOKE!
Zetterberg got penalized for interference when it was the ukranien player who interfered Zetterberg...
Robertsson 4-ever 05-01-2005, 04:45 PM Mikael Samuelsson looked really good with Alfredsson and Påhlsson, nice to know for the future. Samuelsson is a really underrated player.
The twins har a though game, they didn't get anywhere, but I think, or hope maybe, they'll be better the better the competition get.
To summarize there wasn't many players that stood out, Zetterberg, Jönsson and Nordström was best among forwards while Kronwall and Bäckman looked good on defense. Otherwise none played as good as they can.
Robertsson 4-ever 05-01-2005, 04:46 PM Well, I was an empty netter short of my prediction. As I suspected, Sweden had big problems and didn't look sharp at all. Don't know if Kahnberg was scratched, he got a really hard hit and left the ice in the shift before. Hopefully it's nothing serious.
Riddarn 05-01-2005, 04:48 PM The referee was a JOKE!
Sure, but he was equally bad all through the game. The swedes should adjust to the level and stop complaining.
Art Vandelay 05-01-2005, 04:52 PM I want some new combos for the next game:
Samuelsson - Påhlsson - Alfredsson - they looked good.
Zetterberg - Franzen - Hedström - Zetterberg can focus more on offence.
Sedin - Sedin - Kahnberg - a scorer with the twins, with "Samme" they all ended up along the bords.
Nordström - Jönsson - Weinhandl - :dunno:

That pretty much sums up the Swedish performance, a very weak performance overall, the goals were nice but that's about it. And the referee was about as weak as the Swedish team, what a joke.

wassup77 05-01-2005, 04:55 PM When is next game? :)
tomorrow against Denmark
Art Vandelay 05-01-2005, 04:56 PM When is next game? :) 02.05.2005 Mon 20:15 = 21h 20min
Robertsson 4-ever 05-01-2005, 05:02 PM I want some new combos for the next game:
Samuelsson - Påhlsson - Alfredsson - they looked good.
Zetterberg - Franzen - Hedström - Zetterberg can focus more on offence.
Sedin - Sedin - Kahnberg - a scorer with the twins, with "Samme" they all ended up along the bords.
Nordström - Jönsson - Weinhandl - :dunno:
Looks rather good, but I would replace Franzen with Axelsson. Why not try to bring back "line 80" with Sedin, Sedin and Weinhandl? They should at least get the chance on the power play.
Actually, I think we should contiune with our current lines. Samuelsson and the twins have shown they can play well, and we really need to get the twins going, they must produce if Sweden is going anywhere in this tournament. I hope BÅ continue to give them PP time, and not put them on the bench after one poor prerformance like Hardy did.

:hyper: I can't wait that long!!! :hyper:

Riddarn 05-01-2005, 05:04 PM Why not try to bring back "line 80" with Sedin, Sedin and Weinhandl?
Yeah why not. They could play "hide and seek" together, considering how well they hid the last 2 periods of the game I say that line will be pretty hard to find.
SChan* 05-01-2005, 05:12 PM this game was embarresing.

I knew i had forgotten someone - PJ, but i do think we need to "free" Zetterberg, lets try something else against the Danes tommorow..
I agree that we need the twins to start scoring but with Samuelsson they all end up in the corner.
Sedin-Sedin-Weinhandl, didnt they try that in Modo?
An Ape called Yoko 05-01-2005, 05:13 PM We have to thank Henrik Lundqvist for winning that one for us. He made some really keysaves there.

How about you put Zetterberg with Påhlsson and Kahnberg and use Alfredsson with the Twins. Weinhandl could play with Nordström & Jönsson and Samuelsson, Franzén and Axelsson could become a real checking line. Did I leave anyone (besides Höglund) out of the mix?
wassup77 05-01-2005, 05:16 PM How about Weinhandl and Kahnberg change places?
An Ape called Yoko 05-01-2005, 05:17 PM Nah, id stick to Samuelsson with the sedins. This was only one game, and they have been working pryor to the WCs..

I like that.
Art Vandelay 05-01-2005, 05:29 PM Tre Kronor V 1.03
Kahnberg - Påhlsson - Alfredsson
Zetterberg - H.Sedin - Hedström
Axelsson - Franzen - Samuelsson - checking line
Nordström - Jönsson - Weinhandl - PK and PP spec.
Scratch: Höglund, D.Sedin
Opinions?
M.Holmqvist may be available tommorow, is he a realistic addition?
Riddarn 05-01-2005, 05:33 PM M.Holmqvist may be available tommorow, is he a realistic addition?
Don't think so, that would mean either Franzén or Lindström will be forced to go home..
Engineer 05-01-2005, 06:34 PM Due to the play-off situation in the PGA tourney, Viasat has decided to postpone the tape delay to 3 am. WHAT TOM-FOOLERY IS THIS!!!!!!!!!!???? :soap:
Levitate 05-01-2005, 06:36 PM jesus how many breakaways did sweden give up? against freakin Ukraine? cmon :shakehead
well i guess this just enforces what everyone predicted...lundqvist is going to have to carry this team for them to get anywhere

Yes, Lundqvist had a great game, I think he saved 2 or 3 breakaways and he had full control of the puck on the 2-2 goal until the defenseman desided to direct it with his hand? :shakehead
swisdan 05-02-2005, 03:23 AM Thanks to Rhodin and Alfredsson for this win...
Seiza 05-02-2005, 05:32 AM My thoughts about the game:
-Höglund needs to go, I rather have BÅG himself playing.
-The ref was a total disaster!!
-Samuelsson could become a key player for Sweden, he carries the Sedins and did great on Alfredsson's line in the end.
-Lundqvist is brilliant, too bad that our d-men couldn't help him with a shutout.
-We could use some muscles in front of the net, perhaps Franzén needs to be in the line-up?
