That is just an awesome record of player development!

NJ has an excellent track record when it comes to the draft....you could probably make a team of ex-Devils that are still playing in the league now with other teams(Rolston, Morrision, Souray etc.....)

I'm sure there will be a certain Ranger fan coming over to dispute this post. And he'll have some of his Ranger math to prove it.

here is my pre-emptive strike:

Pavel Brendl
Manny Malhotra

oh and nothing since 94

What else can one say? The scoutes, The Conte and The Lou are simply amazing at the draft and the organization is great at developing talent.

Heh. Left out Jamie Lundmark, though.

I think kuch of the kudos also goes to David Conte, who I believe is head of scouting.
Lamouriello has been progressive in drafting/signing NCAA Talent with Madden, Rolston, Guerin, Rafalski, Gionta, Van Ryn, Commodore, Hale, Pandolfo, and Morrison in the past and Parise, Tallackson and Zajac in recent years (although Hale was USHL and Zajac was BCJHL at the time of their draft.)

There have been some real good picks and some mistakes. It hasn't been all roses but when you combine the good drafts since '90[Marty!] with a few key undrafted FA signings [Madden,Rafalski] and things have gone very well, in spite of a decade of poor draft position. Perdersen,Sharifianov,Van Ryn,L.Ward[ Foster?] are examples of 1st's who didn't work out but everybody is going to have some of those.
The proof of the system depth came after the first Cup when they weren't spending that much money, but had people like Elias,Sykora,Morrison,Sullivan,White,Souray, readyi ng in the pipeline. Hopefully Parise and Zajac can be as good pros as Gomez and Madden, at minimum.
