Another forgettable season came to an end tonight as the Rats finished off the year with a 6-1 loss to the Lowell Lock Monsters. Brian Gionta scored the Rats' lone goal and Scott Clemmensen posted the loss as Clemmensen and Ahonen allowed 3 goals apiece.

This will be the Rats fifth year of missing the playoffs, and with 71 points and a 29-38-7-6 record they only have three teams (Utah, Springfield and San Antonio) behind them in the leaguewide standings.

Some noteworthy individual stats:
-Despite appearing in only 50 games, Ahren Nittel finished with 17 powerplay goals, tied for third overall in the league.
-With 58 points in 73 games Zach Parise finished fifth overall in rookie scoring. He also lead the River Rats with 6 game-winning goals.
-Cam Janssen finished the season with 337 penalty minutes, good for third in the league behind Brian McGrattan (551) and Dennis Bonvie (357).

A three game losing streak to the end the season....a fitting way to end another frustrating season I guess......

Well, it was their best season since 98-99, so they have improved-not all bad.
