Yeah, obviously each team isn't going to dress three goaltenders.

I'm guessing Svatos and McCormick get the day off for the rookies since they played the last two games. Then again it could be the last hurrah for the planned Hershey cuts.

Dislocated his shoulder in the rookie tourney the Kings held in early September. Out around 6 months.

the injuries just keep piling up. aulin with a separtaed shoulder, miller with a broken hand, cammelarri with a bad knee(out 4-6 weeks), deader and allison both with stuff. this looks like it's goign to be another bad year for the kings.

I didn't realize that both Deadmarsh and Allison are still injured? Does anyone know the significance of their injuries and if they will be ready for the start of the season? Is Deader still suffering from his concussions?

if i remember right(don't quote me on it, but i'll make sure for sure later when my kings fan friend gets online)but i believe deader is still suffering from concussion like symptoms(mainly diziness)and allison has a leg injury. but according to murray they're HOPING they'll be in the lineup for opening night(which at this point looks as likely as seeing pigs fly).

Palffy - Knee
Cammalleri - Knee Sprain
Stumpel - Neck injury
Modry - Shoulder surgery recovery

Sounds as if there was a scramble in front of the LA net. Hahl threw the puck in front of the net. There is some confusion as to who scored the goal. It may have bounced off a LA defender. The radio broadcast just said that Foote has been credited with the goal; assists from Hahl and Cummins.

The first period goal is now being credited to Riku Hahl. Apparently while Riku was behind the net he centered the puck in front of the net and it bounced off of one of the LA defenders. The assists go to Cummins and Foote.

Teemu Selanne puts the Avs up 2-0; assist from Sakic.

Liles was on the ice for LAs lone goal. I don't know how he was involved on that particular play. So far his best action has come on the PP. In particular, the second PP the Avs had in this game, JML was the QB. He has made a few good defensive plays that have been mentioned throughout the broadcast, but unfortunately I can't offer any further details. It sounds as though he has had another solid game.

Why do I get the sense that McAllister, Smith and Cummins will all make the team? It just feels like Granato/Tocchet.

LA starts the period on the PP. A D-Mo slapshot catches Cechmanek in the shoulder and he goes down for a few moments. He shakes it off and will stay in the game. Last thing LA needs is another injury.

The Avs kill off the Kings PP, LA is 0-5.

Well, Lappy isn't a very good fighter and Smith is pretty decent; so, I would buy that. That is the main reason I don't listen to radio calls; I just can't trust the accuracy of what they say. It's my natural instinct when hearing local broadcasters.

Maybe I'll start to listen now. Nah, that's okay. Who would want to listen to a preseason Avs radio broadcast anyway? Oh, that's right; Enoch and Sakic19 probably would. My apologies I'm sure. :D

:handclap: for Jori on the excellent updating.

First off, to Lappy22, you’ll be happy to know that your boy was wearing the “C” on his jersey tonight. Do you happen to know if that’s going to be permanent? It might be if they keep getting cursed with injuries.

I dug out the binoculars and checked out the press boxes. Since there wasn’t any TV there was plenty of room for all the injured players. This actually took up two press boxes because there was so many of them Deadmarsh, Palffy, Allison, Miller. It was ugly. I think they said Miller has an injury to his hand.

I was listening to the game on the signal they have running in the arena. I like Mike Haynes a lot but I was getting frustrated with his lack of enthusiasm towards Abby. I guess “SAVE BY ABB-ISH-ER!!” just doesn’t sound as exciting as “SAVE BY ROY!” Maybe because it’s preseason it’s not a big deal but I think he sounded more enthusiastic about the saves that Cechmanek made and he was shaky at best today. Abby made some UNBELIVABLE saves tonight and looked very confident. The goal he did give up was screened and there’s no way he could have stopped that one.

I’m always interest to see which forward is going to be thrown out when the team is facing a 5 on 3. Today it was Nickolishin.

That's all I can think of for now.

This is what I'm starting to see on the bottom two lines.

Battaglia/Nikolishin/Hinote
Worrell/Hahl/Cummins

You can switch Cummins and Hinote if ya want.

I really don't see Svatos on the 3rd line. I do see him as a call up though if one of the top 6 are injured. I think he's too small for a checking line and would also benefit from more ice time in Hershey.

The way I see it ...it's kind of like this ...take your pick from Aubin, Larsen, Willsie, Cummins.

I'd rather give Cummins a shot. He sounds like he's done well so far and he makes the team tougher and bigger. Something this team needs.

Aubin and Larsen will have a difficult time making the team due to injuries. If Cummins does make the team than there would be no need for DJ Smith as far as I'm concerned, which would leave a spot open for Liles or Slovak to slide into one of the defensive positions.

Hinote and Hahl seemed like *from the reports  * they had chemistry. Why split them up? Would Cummins be good on the third line? I doubt it, but Svatos would. Really depends.......first time the Avs have had a problem with deciding who needs to be playing on the bottom lines in a long time rather than who can play on the bottom lines

To be fair, I fail to see where there was any need for Smith in the first place. He should be in the AHL because of his skating deficiencies anyway. With the young guys stepping it up, there's zero reason for Smith to be on an NHL roster, let alone the Avalanche.

It won't be permanent; Norstrom is the normal captain and I don't think he played last night did he? Norstrom has been one of the few healthy Kings going back to last season and this preseason too. Lappy isn't going to take the C from Norstrom. There was actually talk on the Kings board a couple of months back about Avery being groomed to replace Lappy and that the Kings were going to let Laperriere go after this season. High expectations of Avery if you ask me, but I guess we'll see.

To be fair, I fail to see where there was any need for Smith in the first place. He should be in the AHL because of his skating deficiencies anyway. With the young guys stepping it up, there's zero reason for Smith to be on an NHL roster, let alone the Avalanche.

You wont get an argument from me there. My only concern is that Smith is a Granato/Tocchet guy.

Tanguay - Forsberg - Hejduk
Kariya - Sakic - Selanne
Battaglia - Nikolishin - Willsie
Worrell - Hahl - Hinote

Scratches: Cummins, Larsen

With Svatos and Stephens possibly getting call-ups in case of injuries.

Blake - Skrastins
Foote - Liles
Morris - Skoula

Scratches: McAllister

Slovak would be the possible call-up.
