The same two teams also played last night, with San Diego winning 2-0 and Ferhi posting a shutout.

...Meanwhile, Gulls backstop Eddy Ferhi remained perfect in net. He wasn’t as busy as Michaud, but was more than equal to the task when called upon. Ferhi had a two-period total of 17 saves, many of which were low-percentage shots.

Ferhi was extremely busy in the third period, stopping 20 Long Beach shots. A handful of those came from tight quarters and in the waning moments of the game, but the 6-foot-3-inch, 197-pound netminder completely shut the door.

Joel Stepp sealed the San Diego victory with an empty-netter at the 19:26 mark. It was his seventh goal since joining the Gulls 10 games ago.

Gornick scored for the Gulls and leads the team in goals too, 23, i think. Wasn't Brian Gornick a Duck prospect. And if he's in San Diego, then i suppose his commitment to the Air Force has ended.

Yeah, the Ducks drafted him in '99. His time is probably over with the Air Force since he's playing there... :dunno:

Yeah thats a good question because I thought he was commited to the airforce for at least 5 years after graduation from the Academy. He was only a Cincy Duck for 2 years so he should have had at least 3 years left.

Anyone know?

Looks like he is one of the Gull's better players, creating offense, using his body along the boards and playing physical willing to drop the gloves if the linesman hadn't broken up the potential fight.

Maybe Anaheim should have resigned him?

3-2 Long Beach after 2 periods.

Gornick set up the second San Diego goal by driving to the net with the puck, leaving a rebound for an easy goal.

Long Beach wins 5-2.

Gornick had a pretty good game.

Stepp didn't do much. He was skating well and had a couple of shots on goal though.

Ferhi could have been better, but none of the 5 goals were "soft goals". They were shots over his shoulders mostly.

...

More hockey on TV tomorrow on KVMD. Bakersfield vs Long Beach at 5:00.

:dunno: What was Dave Karpa doing????Was he trying to be the invisible man??
:shakehead My husbnd just got so fed up, he left the room. I didn't think it was that bad a game, I sort of enjoyed it. I know the kids loved it.

I think he is only playing in the ECHL to stay in shape and be ready to try out at someones NHL training camp in September.

So he isn't playing as physically as he would normally be because he isn't motivated in the ECHL.
