What Devils if any do you think will play in the world championships. Marty and Nieds are key for Canada but they have not been skating much. Langenbrunner and Rafs? Elias, kozlov etc. Might be a good test for Stevens if Canada would have him?

Gomez should go too, but he kinda burned some bridges with Team USA last Spring. I doubt highly that Stevens will play, but that would be awesome to see him there.

I think Gomez would be one of the best on the U.S. squad. He is in great shape and USA hockey would be silly to pass him by.

Although I'm a big Stevens fan, I don't think Stevens will even be thought of for Canada. He hasn't played for us since the 1998 Olympics. We have alot of young defence coming up and we already have a strong corps of vertern D-men.

IMO, Gomez, Rafalski, Gionta, and Martin are locks for the U.S. team. Langenbrunner and maybe Hale is a possibility as well.

Will Marty accept? He hasn't played all year.........................and as far as Stevens goes 1983, We do have a great core of young d-man but who will play and who won't, they might have to turn to stevens....wishful thinking I guess, but doubtful, but it sure would be great to see him out there.

Wouldn't be the first time they passed him by. He was going to play in the I think USHL he wanted to go to OMAHA because a few of his friends were there and the team he was supposed to go to wouldn't trade him. So he went to Surrey I believe it was. But I think playing for the olympics probably helped out a bit because he didn't do too bad.

If Martin is wearing 10 again I'm going out and buying a jersey.

Yeah, I really like the make-up of the U.S. team so far, especially on defense. I expect Gomez to be named to the team as well.

I'm a little disappointed that Rafy isn't going to be playing with Team USA. That wide-open, International game totally suits his strengths. He was one of the best defenseman in the World Cup last year. I do like the youth movement, but Rafy should be on the team.

They are crazy! With all due respect USA hockey needs to put the best product (that they have access to) on the ice. They need to get back some of the respect that they lost in the last couple of years. They have a wealth of talent and can compete with any country.

What respect has been lost in the last couple of years? As far as I can tell, the U.S. has:

* Won silver at the 2002 Winter Olympics
* Won gold at the 2004 WJC's
* Won bronze at the 2004 World Championships
* Made it to the semi's of the WJC's and World Cup this year

As for Rafalski, has he been playing this year? If not, it's easy to see why he wasn't chosen.

I hope there's a chance Rafalski could still be added, I think they'd be crazy not to select him. He played great in the World Cup last summer, and he's only 31, not exactly over the hill yet. As far as I know he isn't playing overseas, but I can't imagine that was the deciding factor, after all Martin only played 11(?) games overseas this year, so it's not like he's played a lot of hockey either.

I believe that Niedermayer has said that he'll pass on the Worlds.

I do not want to start a war here but silver is 2nd and bronze is 3rd and the semis are fourth. USA, Canada, Russia, Czech, and the Swedes are the dominant countries in hockey, gold is the only thing good enough for these countries. Canadians won't settle for second...if they lose the writers will bash hockey Canada for months. Silver is a great accomplishment for latvia, Germany, or the Swiss.

And If Rafs was asked to play, but he felt that because he hasn't skated that he wouldn't be able to contribute in his usual way, then he should man up and say no. But he should be given the opportunity.

Martin is available in #10 in the "personalize your jersey" section, as are Gomez in #19, Langenbrunner's #15 and Rafalski with #28. You can also custom select a name up to 12 letters and a number.

You see here if the US finished 1st every single tourney everyone would still not care.

I totally agree. We suck at every other sport. We are very passionate about hockey. You don't see too many Canadians in basketball, baseball and football....Oh I guess we are pretty good at curling too! But I don't call that a sport.

I wanted to see Parise on the team but that is a long shot at best. USA teams seem to win when he plays :)Agreed, and with that, USA is doing quite well in the U-International tournaments. They won gold in the U-18 tournament the past two or three years and obviously won the World Junior Hockey Championships 2 years ago. It isn't up to Canadian standards, but at least the US is building itself up to be a strong contender in the near future. The Great Generation of US hockey players (Tkachuk, Leetch, Roenick, etc) is getting a little long in the tooth. Hopefully this new, younger core can come in and take the US game to the next level.

I have never had the opportunity to see Parise play except for the AHL skills competition. It would be great to see him play in the worlds, Not sure what the t.v. schedule will be but I am sure it will be at some ungodly hour here.......just found out that Team Canada are coming here to Calgary for their training camp so I will be sure to take in some of the action. Be great to see Marty if he goes.

To play all 82 reg season games and all 26 playoff games should be a good indication of just how great Leopold is going to be, that is amazing for a rookie d-man.

Dont get me wrong, I think Leo is awesome, but Martin did have a better Rookie season Than Leo. I would have really loved to see what Martin did this year, if there was a season. :madfire:

Hell, both are going to be great D-men (and I'm not just saying that because they wore the Maroon and Gold). :yo:

I seen alot of leo and not a whole lot of martin, but when they did manage to show some Devils games I was most impressed with Martin and I would actually rank him as being a more complete and more talented d-man than leo. The best part is that Martin plays on my favourite team and Leo plays on my second favourite team!
