At the bottom of this article it mentions a possible name change for the Ducks. If is true it is the best hockey news all year!!! I hope they use the old school uniforms too. :handclap:

I wonder if they'll have to buy the name from the Sharks? Those old Seals uniforms are kinda nasty, imo... but the name is much better.

I don't like it either...They should just take the "Mighty" out of the name if there is going to be a change.

They can distance themselves as far as they want, but not by calling them Golden Seals :shakehead. We might as well call them, the Anaheim Baby Ducks.

It's as if when the Montreal Expos moved to D.C. and they take the name the Senators instead of the Nationals.

Why subjuct yourself to that troublesome history of that name from that city?

I like the idea. I think what everyone needs to pay attention to is that the Golden Seals were pre-Bettman era. Once this lockout is over Bettman and Goodenow will be chased out of town, and cutting off ties to Disney is just another step forward.

Let's distance ourselves from this lockout with an old name and a new colorscheme.

don't really like the new name either...maybe because I wasn't even born when the seals played...i have absolutely no relation to this name/team/logo....Anaheim Ducks, make the 3rd jersey the new 1st jersey and i'm all happy :)

I think you miss the point here. The name is what has the horrid stigma. Anyone can change their uni's just to make some cash. But a name change is a big deal. I just want nothing to do with Disney ir the Mighty Ducks. They want to name us the flying gorillas so be it. In my mind anything other than Mighty Ducks bring instant credibility back to the franchise. Winning a few games would be nice as well.

I actually like the old school idea of Golden Seals, but thats just me. I like unique names, I know it may sound cheesy and all. And I also think that Anaheim "Mighty Ducks" sound better than just plain "Anaheim Ducks."

Yeah I agree.

If they want to distance themselves...drop the "mighty" for next season...

then during the season allow fans to vote on renaming the team with California Seals, Anaheim Ducks, and a few other choices on the poll.

...Not that the Duck's or King's jerseys even resemble eachother. I think the Duck's current 3rd jersey would be great as a 1st jersey.

No, I'm saying that it's far too close to the Kings jerseys, therefore it's horrendous. It'd be one thing for a team to have similar colors to the Kings if they were from say Atlanta, or somewhere further away, but the fact that the Ducks are 30 miles down the road and have similar colors is what makes it horrendous. Almost like they are trying to imitate big brother.... I have nothing wrong with purple and black, but it just seems like a complete ripoff. The 3rd jersey for Anaheim is much better, but not those colors....

well the Ducks wanted to have a black third jersey which is fairly normal. So for the second color they picked purple which is one of the colors from the regular ducks jerseys. I guess they could have done Black and Green but that wouldn't have looked as nice.

saldy black is a fairly normal color and Anaheim chose to continue the tradition and use it. It's overused in my opinion. It would of been nice if Anaheim could of done something with a green (similar to the old Phoenix third jersey) instead of the tired black.
