ducksfan4 03-15-2005, 07:54 PM On the Mighty Ducks weekly radio show tonight they mentioned the ducks are trying to sign a veteran defenseman with NHL play-off experience. No Mention of a name...but the roster is due by 3pm on Thursday. Which means one more players would have to be cut. I'm guessing even though he isn't a defenseman they may cut Corey Pecker...he seems to be the teams WEAKEST LINK at the moment. But you can never guess what management is thinking :)
There is still talk of bringing in a junior player once his season has finished. I still believe that could be Getzlaf!!
With Ilya playing well again the ducks have a great chance of going deep into the play-offs
I'd love for us to be the next Culder Cup Champs!! Has a nice ring to it!!

well it would have to be an American as there are no more work visas available this year...
so...Keith Carney?
ducksfan4 03-15-2005, 08:36 PM Is he in Anaheim?? Looking for something to do possibly*wink*?? That would be great to see :)
Jennifer 03-15-2005, 08:48 PM if they release anyone i would think that Pohonka would go... Pecker has been playing really well sence his trip to the ECHL
Kevin Forbes 03-15-2005, 08:57 PM if they release anyone i would think that Pohonka would go... Pecker has been playing really well sence his trip to the ECHL
I agree with this more, and instead of releasing him, he would probably just be sent to San Diego
Jennifer 03-15-2005, 09:09 PM ok...send him to the ECHL...he and Stepp can bond in the sun :D
ducksfan4 03-15-2005, 09:22 PM Corey has no potential for growth...and isn't signed for next season. You'd think they'd keep Igor and let him get some ice time and experience for getting better for next season. Plus corey has "issues" with Brad Shaw, which usually makes for an interesting practice :)
ducksfan4 03-16-2005, 03:44 PM Ducks sign Chris McAlpine veteran "D" for the rest of the season!

Fighter 03-16-2005, 07:13 PM Ducks sign Chris McAlpine veteran "D" for the rest of the season!
:speechles
McDonald19 03-16-2005, 10:41 PM The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks signed defenseman Chris McAlpine to an American Hockey League contract for the balance of the 2004-05 season on Wednesday.
McAlpine, 33, has not played since the 2002-03 season, appearing in 21 games for the Los Angeles Kings before hernia surgery ended his season.

why??? Now one of our young defensmen gets to sit out. Brookbank? Malec? Rome?
ducksfan4 03-17-2005, 08:20 AM I'm hoping our young defenseman will just get rotated around and let everyone get some play-off experience. And if this guy hasn't played hockey in awhile, I don't see him playing regularly! JMO. He was at the season ticket holder skate with the ducks last night..seemed to be a nice guy, says he will go back into retirement once our play-off run ends. He is friends with Casey Hankinson...and I think some strings were pulled to get him to come over during the play-offs for some added stability and veteran leadership more than anything else.
Also last night there were rumors that Joel Stepp will be brought back from San Diego for the clear day roster...now two players must be cut! My guess would be Pecker and Glencross! But then again I really like Igor and think he did a good job filling in playing while Brent was injured. And lets face it hockey is as much about politics as playing ability...so who is cut is anyones guess :D
ducksfan4 03-17-2005, 01:21 PM Corey Pecker loaned to the Manatoba Moose for the remainder of the season. So far no word on Joel Stepp coming back. If that is the case our clear day roster is set!
I don't know why everyone insists that Pecker is a better player than Pohanka?? When Igor gets constant ice time he is a very good center. JMO :D

"The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced today they have received right wing Cory Pecker on re-assignment from the NHL's Mighty Ducks of Anaheim via the AHL's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks."
Well we have seen the last of Cory Pecker as a Duck. His contract is up after this season and he will not be re-signed.
Kevin Forbes 03-17-2005, 05:38 PM maybe maybe not, he's still usable as an AHL forward and depending on how next season plays out, we may need him.
Interesting that he got sent away for another playoffs with a different team, just like last year.
McDonald19 03-17-2005, 05:45 PM maybe maybe not, he's still usable as an AHL forward and depending on how next season plays out, we may need him.
no chance.
He wants to move on to another organization.
Jennifer 03-17-2005, 05:49 PM where you getting this information from?
he and Brad Shaw have a few differences but that doesnt mean he wants to move...

Just what I've heard, I don't have any media links for it or anything.
He has spent 3 years in this organization and has been sent to the ECHL, relegated to the fourth line, or healthy scratched. If I was in his shoes I'd see what another organization had to offer.
ducksfan4 03-17-2005, 08:11 PM He doesn't want to come back and didn't like being here this season. He asked to go to San Diego...he said basically play me each game or send me where I can play. He hasn't been happy since returning to Cincinnati!! No Links Again, just word of mouth. I don't see him coming back next season with a new contract unless a MIRACLE HAPPENS!
ducksfan4 03-18-2005, 03:31 PM from the clear day roster just sent to me it looks like Igor Pohanka is in SD and Joel Stepp is back in Cincinnati. I think Igor got cut last minute only because we have all our centers back healthy and all are having good games. Joel is a wing and so I think that just gave him a spot on the team. Do well in SD Igor and see you next season :)!
McDonald19 03-18-2005, 04:58 PM from the clear day roster just sent to me it looks like Igor Pohanka is in SD and Joel Stepp is back in Cincinnati.
