If we get the first pick, what's it worth?...

Board kind of quiet, so I came up with a scenario to trade the top pick. Not saying these teams would do these deals, just believe what we'd want in return for "Crosby." Also, don't believe Lou deals with the Atlantic division. Although, Philly has some nice young players.

To: Buffalo: Vanek, Stafford and their first.
To: Anaheim: Getzlaf, Smid and their first.

It'd be a whole lot; it would mean there would be a new CBA (STUPID NHLPA!).

Anyway, if the Devils draft Sidney Crosby; we keep him.

No trades.

If this guy is really the next one, it's going to require a Lindros-like deal to move him. I'm talking at least 3 NHL regulars, 3 prospects (one of whom turns into a Hall of Fame player), 2 picks in the first round, and a lot of cash.

I don't know many teams who could buy Crosby from the Devils.

You'd need a Thorton, an Ovechkin, and a pair of Kovalchuks to do so.

I'll settle for one Kovalchuk.

maybe Kovalchuk, a 1st and a goalie prospect. I mean this is Crosby we're talking. The guy's gotten so much hype its insane.

OK, I thought about this and I would do Kovalchuk, two firsts, a strong goalie prospect (Not necessarily a Kari Lehtonen-ish level, more like a Cam Ward-ish level), and a decent defenseman prospect for Sidney Crosby and Jeff Friesen.

What? Might as well trade Friesen too if NJ can do it...

You can have the hype. Kovalchuk scored 100 goals in the NHL before his 21st birthday. The 5th youngest player in history to reach the milestone, right now his talent is unparalleled in the leauge. Crosby is just another might-be, and has a better shot to be the next Daigle than the next Gretzky.

Put Ilya next to Parise and Suglobov and our offense will be as unstoppable as our defense. Of course, this would never happen, as Atlanta wouldn't do the trade.

I was exaggerating :)

Point is, it would take a Lindros trade. But personally, I'd just keep Crosby.

Why **** with fate, he was dropped on your lap for a reason and you trade him? Hell no, I would not do that.

If we ever got Crosby I think our future three centers would look like this:

1st Line - Crosby
2nd Line - Zajac
3rd Line - Parise - only because I think out of the three he reminds me more of an third line center, will do all the little things neccassary that you would expect from that position.

And I didn't forget Gomez, he will wing off with Zajac.

That leaves the 4th line center with about 4 minutes of ice time per game lol.

If you think for one second that Atlanta wouldn't trade Kovalchuk straight up for Crosby you don't know anything about Crosby. Atlanta would do it in a second and every team in the league would be shocked at how little it took.

The only thing Kovalchuk does better than Crosby RIGHT NOW is score goals. Crosby's defensive game and intensity along the boards and in the corners blows Kovalchuk away. There is absolutely no chance Crosby turns into a Daigle, it's apples and oranges to anyone who has seen Crosby play. He has been on the radar since he was 14 and his improvement every year is remarkable. And that can be attributed to his excellennt work ethic and character

Pfff, not even, we would be so good we wouldn't need a 4th line. :P
