An intelligent player, Brent does all the little things well that often times go unnoticed by fans, but they're the things that are necessary in order for a team to win.

“Tim excels at a lot of areas that only coaches recognize, such as face-offs,” said Chuck Fletcher, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim assistant GM who serves as the general manager in Cincinnati.

“You will often see [head coach] Brad (Shaw) use Tim late in a game when we need to win a face-off. He’s great at checking, blocking shots, defensive positioning. He’s just a very intelligent, courageous player.”

...
A solid two-way player, Brent has been used in all situations by the Ducks coaching staff, including taking critical face-offs and in the last minute of games when the club is protecting a lead or needing a goal.

...
“Timmy’s a role player; he’s a great centerman, great on drops," said defenseman Mark Popovic, who was also a teammate of Brent's his first two years in juniors in the OHL with Toronto St. Michael’s. "Defensively, I love to be out with him, because he’s one of the few forwards you know he’s going to do his job down low. He’s going to be a great player – he’s got great leadership ability and a few years from now I think he’ll be a great pro."
...

“The injury slowed him down more than he would like to admit, but Tim’s professionalism has helped him get through and he’s still found ways to have success,” explained Shaw. “He’s a positive, contributing guy. His penalty killings gotten better, he’s gotten better on face-offs and he’s a big part of the reason that Dustin Penner has been playing so well in the last six to eight weeks.”
...

For his part, Brent is happy with where his season has taken him and with where the Ducks can go.

“I think my progression is going the right way, I’m getting better and better, so hopefully that continues. I’m pretty happy with the way I’m playing right now, I’m getting lots of ice time and I think the coaches both trust me on the ice,” explained Brent.

“I think we are a playoff team, and the scary thing is we haven’t all been together yet. That’s exciting, as a player in the dressing room to think we are doing so well and we are still missing guys. I think that re-energizes guys and now it’s a push for the playoffs.”
