What's up with Getzlaf

Last year he had 79 points in 49 games with Calgary and this year he only has 48 points in 45 games what's up with that?

Um... I think he's injured.

welp, he missed time with injuries (notably a concussion) and the world juniors. his team as a whole started rather slowly, and Getzlaf was stripped of his captain's C for some time when his frustration with the team and his own lack of effort got the best of him
Andrew Ladd, his linemate, who he connected with many times last season hasn't been putting up the points this year
Getzlaf has had something like 10 points in his last 7 games (since he returned from his concussion), so perhaps he has turned the corner

A healthy motivated Getzlaf on a team that is working together was what we saw at the WJCs, in the WHL, I don't think it's always been the same story.

Stats aren't everything.

He's been back in the lineup for a little while now.

A quick glance at his numbers seems to indicate his goal scoring rate is exactly the same as last year, but his assists are dramatically down. A lot of that must be due to Ladd's big drop in production. Tough to rack up assists when everyone else on the team is struggling to score any goals.
