Lupul has been good at times and invisible at others. If Leclerc and McDonald were healthy he'd definately start in the AHL but with them out he's got a pretty good chance. What is going to hold him back, if anything, is his play away from the puck. Babcock said as much in the LA times this morning...

Lupul, the Ducks' first-round pick in 2002, is trying to snag a spot on the roster.

He helped his cause by coming from behind the net and throwing the puck past goalie Brian Boucher for the Ducks' first goal.

Lupul still has some ground to cover to completely win over Coach Mike Babcock.

"He was with some good players who got him the puck," Babcock said. "Can he do the other things enough?"

i think it's up in the air
only reason is that he has played well in practice and in the rc tourney, but when it came down to play against some of the better stars in the league he became invisible.. he has got a lot of hype to live up to..
if i were to choose between him and Getzlaf though, i would pick Getzlaf..

I'm beginning to think we need to sign another vet. None of the kids are playing great enough to nail down a roster spot.
