I haven't heard much about who got cut this week? Has someone heard anything about the cuts and surprises in Sweden? How's Stajan doing?
Any new training camp news?Stajan Fan 09-20-2003, 10:44 AM I haven't heard much about who got cut this week? Has someone heard anything about the cuts and surprises in Sweden? How's Stajan doing? Joey24 09-20-2003, 11:33 AM Maxim Kondratiev has impressed me the most of all the prospects though Jarkko Immonen has been right up there also... Stajan Looked good in the time he played though he never really got tuns of ice time being pared with Sundin and Nolan for the most part I though he did pretty well and could actuilly be out best forward prospect.. Though I wish Steen would have gotten the chance to play with the squad I wanted to get a better look at him... Never heard much of anything about the traning camp in Kitchner simply because the Sweeden tour overshadowed it.. sluggo* 09-20-2003, 11:39 AM Everything I've heard has said that Stajan did very well and showed that he will make the NHL and should be a good player, but he still needs a year or 2 in St. Johns. I guess Maxim Kondratiev is a bit of a susprise. He played very well, as well as played well with and apparently bonded with Kaberle. If hes able to play the NA style of hockey at least as well as Hedin is I think theres a very good chance he could get the last spot on the defense (Jackman having all but secured one of those jobs) with his chemisty with Kaberle putting him over the top. Playing with Kaberle would also be good for Kondratiev because of the lang. barrier. Maxim doesn't speak English very well yet and Kaberle can speak enough Russian to communicate with Kondratiev on the ice. If they trade for that #1 guy they need (and I still expect they will not long into the season) the defense might look like this ?/McCabe Kondratiev/Kaberle Marchment/Jackman. think-blue- 09-20-2003, 04:08 PM I got this in my e-mail today. I'm just going to ignore the fact that you're putting our far and away best dman on the 2nd pairing, and just ask you...Kaberle speaks Russian now? timlap 09-21-2003, 01:24 PM I'm just going to ignore the fact that you're putting our far and away best dman on the 2nd pairing, and just ask you...Kaberle speaks Russian now? I was wondering the same thing. Its not impossible of course. I expect a lot of Europeans speak 3 or 4 or more languages. But does Kaberle in fact speak Russian, or was that a momentary brain cramp? sluggo* 09-21-2003, 03:24 PM First, thats assuming Ferguson makes the trade he needs to - bringing in a #1 guy (and they need one, they aren't getting anywhere near the cup with Kaberle as the #1 guy), who you then pair with McCabe. Then you pair up the two guys who (at least in europe) played well together and have some chemisty. Plus Kaberle is the only defenseman who can communicate with Kondratiev, so if hes on the team this year you either put them together or hope Kondratiev can keep up with whats going on without talking to anyone (ie - he catch's on fast as when to go on and come off, when plays have been changed etc....) And yes Kaberle can speak Russian (at least enough to get by, the artical didn't say the extent of his Russian) according to the Star, which said Kondratiev and Kaberle spend most of their down time together, the artical said they watched Russian DVD's on the player Kondratiev brought with him, and asked kaberle alot about what Canada was like and Kaberle tried to speak English with him as much as he could so he starts learning it. Kaberle was also translating plays, what to do, when to change etc.... to Kondratiev on the ice. From what I understand Kondratiev speaks almost no English. The paper was trying to do a small interview with him and said "it more of an uncomfortable silence, until Mogilny saw what was going on and came over to translate" (paraphrasing) 34 09-21-2003, 04:35 PM I got this in my e-mail today. If one of them was Ford then he must have ended with a pretty decent GAA for being the youngest one there. monkey_00* 09-21-2003, 04:48 PM I haven't heard much about who got cut this week?
