Saint John and St. John’s will be expansion teams next season in the Q.

Based on previous expansion teams what is to be expected in terms of team building and their records for the first season?

Should reaching .500 be the initial goal of expansion teams, or should they aim for higher aspirations?

Last but not least is where expansions teams stand now as compared to their first season.

that's the complete season by season record for each team in the Q, i'll let you make your own assessment. check the last 4 expansion teams records (Baie-Comeau, Halifax, Moncton, PEI/Montreal). I'm not counting teams like Lewiston, Cape Breton who were relocated. arguably the best franchise of those four was Halifax who played 4 games under .500 - in only in their second season. Moncton didn't have a winning record until their 5th year. first years are rough for any expansion team.

Both teams should be competitive.

You are adding 6 impact type players right away.

5 20 year olds and each teams top pick.

PLUS the expansion draft some decent players should be around.

Id say making the playoffs isnt out of the question for either team.

Just interesting.
1. Is St.John in English or French-speaking section of New-Brunswick? I guess, this is mostly English-speaking town, isn't it?

And...

2. Do they plan to create any expansion Quebec-based teams in QMJHL in some years?

Thanks.
