Why is beating Nashville more important than beating St. Louis? Division rivalry aside?
I'd have rather started the season out strong against the Blues and held back my big guns against the Preds, a match-up that's typically low scoring and hard hitting.
Not that St. Louis isn't hard hitting, mind you, but the Pred games always seem to get nasty.
Nothin' wrong with that.:)

Three reasons the St. Louis roster was so weak:

1. Ettinger Cup was played less han 24 hours earlier and most of the guys playing Friday came from the team that did not play thursday night.

2. Injuries have sidelined Sanderson, Nash, Shelley and Letowski.

3. Nashville is a home game and the CBJ needs the big names in the lineup to draw the fans.

Bingo. Sydor along with Marchant should be playing on Sunday. Letwoski is out till Monday with an injury, so he'll get unveiled at a later date. Not to mention that the "marquee" goaltending will be playing in the form of Denis and Leclaire. I can't wait for tomorrow, I think they can draw 13K for a preseason game.

Is Brandon Sugden Still in camp with the Jackets? I was suprised to see him not in the lineup Fri vs the Blues? What is wrong with Shelley?

I don't remember seeing Sugden in camp. Jody had some kind of abdominal surgery in the off-season. He participated in some practices during the week, but he wasn't in any of the scrimmages.

Sugden was invited to the Syracuse Crunch Training Camp, not the CBJ Camp. Nate Kiser was the toughguy dressed against the Blues and I guess he dropped the gloves once, but don't know the outcome. Besides, the lineup Friday night was hardly worth protecting.

Shelley has a groin injury. As far as I know, he is fully recovered from offseason surgury and the groin injury was suffered in camp during full contact scrimmages. I saw him Thrusday and he seemed to be doing fine. I would guess he'll be back soon.
