Porn* 01-23-2005, 12:28 PM I'm not sure whats wrong with my computer...but I'm having multiple issues.
Specs: AMD XP2500 1.8Ghz
512mb Ram
120Gig HD
ATI Radeon 9200SE 128mb video card
Asus a7v8x-x motherboard
Now... the problems.
I sometimes get the blue screen of death, and it dumps my physical memory to disk. :help:
Games will just close for no reason ie; NHL2005, Battlefield 1942, StarCraft, Red Alert 2
^^ says my video card accelerator was reset due to an error :dunno:
Start Up takes forever... and i've got almost nothing starting up.
I"ve done virus checks andn othing has popped up, what should/could I Do???
Thanks in Advanced.
guinness 01-23-2005, 01:13 PM I'd say it's either your power supply or flaky RAM. If you have other RAM sticks lying around, try those. Same goes with the PSU (and if you build your own PC's, you've probably got a couple collecting dust).

thanks...
I was planning on upgrading my ram anyways and power supplies are cheap so i'll just replace it to be on the safe side.
Thanks!
HughJass* 01-23-2005, 03:50 PM Still, you need to check your RAM first. Do a search on Google for Memtest+. It's a boot app which will check your RAM, and it doesn't take long.
What have you been doing differently lately? Have you installed something new, or configured another application/hardware/BIOS?
What OS are you using?

So... I downloaded the program and had it running.

john g 01-23-2005, 07:16 PM could be your Radeon drivers
I am a firm believer in ATI's product vs. GeForce but the last card I had, was wacky and I had to downgrade from the latest version to a few revs before. BSOD's are more and more due to driver issues than hardware problems anymore.

Unfortunately ATI no longer supports my video card so updated software is N/A.
Seems like i'm screwed if that in fact is the situation.

Can't you just install the latest Catalyst drivers from ATI? All of Nvidia's new video drivers are backwards compatable all the way back to the TNT series.

Compare two Radeon 9800 cards made by two different companies, and you won't get the same results, so a generic driver will never be able to take full advantage of either card's abilities.

ATI isnt like Nvidia -- ATI makes all their stuff I believe, where as Nvidia sells their chips to every card ***** on the corner
Go here -- a 128mb card I doubt has run out of their product support
http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html

I went there... and couldn't find it :dunno:
It's the ATI Radeon 9200SE 128Mb.
john g 01-24-2005, 05:12 PM yeah I cant believe I asked what it was -- you posted it in the beginning -- duhh :banghead:
It has to be there -- they even have a legacy section
http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/legacy.html
and if you go to the above drivers link, and choose XP, graphics driver, Radeon Family thats not it?
Is this your card -- the farmed out (which I didnt know -- retract my prior post) ASUS one? http://secure.newegg.com/app/CustratingReview.asp?DEPA=0&item=14-121-506
If it is the ASUS one - ASUS 9200 Series (http://www.asus.com/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=A9200%20Series&Type=Drivers) support and downloads

Hehe, once you get to 100% you can stop it. More than likely you will not see any errors popping up unless you want to run it for 12 hours (or however long you leave your PC on in a given day) just to see what will happen under those conditions.
