So, what's the difference between +R and -R? Due certain types only play on certain things? One better than the other in any aspect? I use +R, and they work on my Xbox and PS2, so that's one benefit, I guess.

Other than that, there really is no difference.... mmbt 01-22-2005, 04:56 PM So, what's the difference between +R and -R? Due certain types only play on certain things? So at this point, there's no real difference in compatibility, it's mainly the way they're formatted and how each handles defects. +R actually has some minor advantages in terms of technology, but nothing the average user need worry about. It's safer that way, many burned dvd +R does'ent work on Apple nuckfan in TO 01-22-2005, 05:48 PM The biggest difference between the two is that +R allows you to leave a recording session open, if you've recorded less than 4gigs on it.... -R closes every session when recording on it.... even if you only record 2G on a -R, you can't use that DVD again to add more stuff on it. That's why I always buy/use +R... you can continue recording on a DVD+R if you have less than 4G recorded on it, while you can't with -R. guinness 01-22-2005, 06:07 PM DVD-R = movies (for compatibility with older DVD players) DVD+R = data (since most PC DVD drives don't care) That's how I use my discs. Oz 01-22-2005, 10:33 PM Interesting, thanks guys. I'll stick with +R since they seem to work on my Xbox. HughJass* 01-23-2005, 03:52 PM Interesting, thanks guys. Oz 01-24-2005, 08:00 PM Nah, all of my gaming is legit, but I am taking advantage of Blockbuster's unlimited DVD rental thing. I was under the impression that no burned discs (CDs or DVDs) would work on gaming consoles without the console being modded. Neither of my system are, but +R discs work on both. Not too old, but more than 3 years old. It does NOT play DVD-R's. The cheap Magnovox DVD player i bought last year plays both. So it kind of goes against the norm when Older ones typically play the -R's. Mine does not.
