Brodie562 01-17-2005, 04:20 PM I was bored so i started messing around with the search plug-in. its cool for you stat junkies or you GMs in sim leagues.
Just put these files in your searchplugin folder. oh and change the file extension on the .txt file to .src and restart firefox.
then all you have to do is type in a players first, last, or both names and it will send you to his profile page on TSN. let me know what you guys think.
Where is this "search plug-in" for Firefox? I have Firefox, but I do no see the search plug-in.

I've been wanting something like this for a long time! :handclap:
What do I do... paste the code into the plug-in search folder?
Brodie562 01-17-2005, 10:56 PM Download the file, change the extension (.txt) to .src and leave it in the "searchplugins" folder. Restart Firefox. Let me know if it worked.
loveshack2 01-20-2005, 09:39 AM Nice job. Looking at the code Im surprised that it's so simple, makes me want to try writing my own search functions.
RickNashEquilibrium 01-29-2005, 12:02 AM Very nicely done. I suggest this as a necessity for fhl'ers. I find I need that site often. Would you mind if I shared the file with others?
It Kills Me 01-29-2005, 03:19 PM how do i use this do I type in "tsn stajan" if im looking for his stats?
Douggy 01-29-2005, 04:06 PM how do i use this do I type in "tsn stajan" if im looking for his stats?

You also need to make sure the search box is for TSN, not Google or something else. Click on the Google icon and select TSN..

Is it possible to do something like this for hockeydb as well?

Ugh. I just tried making one for hockeydb.
No Dice.
It appears that the Firefox Search Pluggin feature doesn't work with php (which is what hockeydb uses) :(

I've managed to make it work. :)
I've done one for both hockeysfuture.com and hockeydb.com. Search for any player within their databases. Limited only to 'surname' searching.
Instructions can be found in the readme inside the zip file. Let me know if anyone finds them useful. :)

Honus Joglund 02-08-2005, 02:43 PM I'm lost. I downloaded both, and they're in the right folder. But how do you change the file from the .txt to .src? Do you do it as you're about to download it, or can you do it after? :help:
This is what I'm looking at right now... picture. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v290/HonusJoglund/screen.bmp)

I think you need to go to Tools -> Folder Options -> the 'View' tab -> and in the Advanced Settings box, de-select 'Hide extensions for known file types'. This just means all your files will now have .txt or .mp3 or whatever at the end of it.
Now, just rename the file and change the .txt to .src
(Atleast that's how I'd do it, but I'm not expert.)

Just as you posted that I was getting the same advice at tmlfans, which worked great. Thanks for the help.
Rob Paxon 02-08-2005, 08:38 PM The search box is a great feature in Firefox; I plan on making some engines soon. If you haven't, you should consider submitting yours to http://mycroft.mozdev.org/ so that others may find and download it.
