Alex Picard was picked in round 4 and Patrice Bergeron the last pick in round 5!!!

I think every QMJHL team got 3-4 star type players out of this draft.

wow, bergeron is listed at 5'9, 153. they can grow pretty fast i guess.

All but three or four players in the first two rounds are/were at the very least solid Q players. Narry a bust in the bunch (unless you count Jasmin-Riel, who left under his own terms whilst doing quite well with Rimouski last year). Not too many late round steals (Scalzo, Drouin-Deslauriers, of course, but only a few more beyond that), but given the strength of the top few rounds... wow.

We'll be hard pressed to come across another draft class like THAT in a while.

I was talking more late-rounder steals (outside first 5). I, like nearly everyone always does, forgot to mention LP Martin, perhaps one of the more underrated players in the league.

Of course, in hindsight Mondou, Paiement, Graham & co. should have gone earlier, and thus are steals in that effect, but you have to assume that if you're making a pick in the third round, then that player you pick should at least develop into a pretty solid player over time. Better than their draft ranking, of course, but steals? A stretch, but only a bit of a stretch.

It's just a difference in interpretation as to where "late-draft steals" start and "assumed good/great players" ends. :)

But there is no questioning the talent in that draft. Stunning.
