...with a lot of information on it

It started with something like "Windows has encountered an error and needs to shut down to prevent damage. If this is the first time you seen this screen, restart your computer. If this isn't the first time you have seen this screen...." and said a whole bunch of stuff to do that I wouldn't know how if my life depended on it (probably because of the songs I downloaded). Said something about running BIOS something or other and said something about physical damage or my memory or removing memory or something.

Anyways, if this screen comes up again what do I do because whatever it was saying, it wasn't something my mind can wrap itself around, espically at 7am

I actually got the same message yesterday, so I would also like to know what to do if it pops up again? I updated my Windows two days ago so I think that might have something to do with it, or it has something to do with those Messenger Plus sounds that I downloaded about a week ago... :dunno:

The dreaded "Blue Screen Of Death" Bwahahaha!

If it doesn't happen again, don't worry too much about it. You could scan for Viruses and Spyware if you really want to be sure you're ok...

If it does happen again, follow these instructions to re-install Windows without losing anything.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315341

Don't forget to go to Windows Updates after re-installation.

was it dumping the contents of memory to physical hard drive?
That's always fun....

Most BSOD's (from my experience) have been driver related issues, and 90% if those driver issues are video card driver related.

I used to get this message all the time, along with constant freezing and computer rebooting itself...constantly. To fix this, I literally opened up my tower and poked around, unplugging one random wire and replugging it in. Havent had a problem in 2 months now.

Been there done that

You may have minidump errors causing this, or it could be a hardware issue. As Fire Sather said, I once had a similar problem, and I simply moved my RAM into a new slot. Unfortunately, it was a sign of things to come - i.e. my motherboards eventual failure. Still, it may just be a simple freeze ;).

There seems to be a running theme in this forum involving a simple question I have to keep asking: which version of MS Windows is it?
