Is it possible to write a RW disc, and then add info to it. Or can you only RW the whole disc?
Thanks.
Thanks.

DeleteThisAccount 01-01-2005, 11:51 PM With packet writing and the UDF file system, it's possible to make a CD/DVD writeable much like a floppy or USB flash drive. It's possible in Linux with pktcdvd and udf-fs (obviously), and I believe in Windows you can use directcd or something to the liking to do it. Other than that, it is not possible with iso9660 to do this. There are cases such that a middle-man is involved before the iso-fs image is written to disc, but that's just rewriting the disc (or track) again. This is the normal Windows behavior, IIRC. Legionnaire 01-02-2005, 01:27 AM Thanks for the response :) Now all I need is a translation. :snide: DeleteThisAccount 01-02-2005, 01:34 AM Sorry, I do that a lot. I'm used to the uber-geek mailing lists. :( Anyway, http://www.roxio.com/en/support/kb/ecdc/eez000028.jhtml is what you're looking for. It's a proprietary (and not free) Roxio product. Legionnaire 01-02-2005, 01:54 AM Gracias! Evilo 01-02-2005, 02:14 AM Yes it's possible, you just have to leave the session open inside Nero (or whatever writing program you have). Or maybe there's something I don't get, but I think it's pretty easy? :dunno: Kerberos* 01-02-2005, 10:27 AM Although keep in mind that a CD-RW can only be written a predefined number of times before it becomes unwritable. That's why you should get a USB flash drive. guinness 01-02-2005, 11:10 AM Although keep in mind that a CD-RW can only be written a predefined number of times before it becomes unwritable. That's why you should get a USB flash drive. Same applies to flash memory, some are more reliable than others (like Lexar vs. Sandisk). If a flash card gets corrupted, it's basically worthless (much like if a HD gets corrupted). Besides, how much difference is there between rewriting a CD/DVD-RW a few thousand times and a flash card that may last up to a million, they're both probably last longer than the format and you'll end up transfering them to another media format in 10 yrs anyhow. | ||
