My new computer has Windows XP Pro on it as well Windows Media Player 10. Everytime I open a video file on my computer, it automatically goes to full screen, plays once, and then just totally locks up and I can't do anything except reboot using the button on the front of the pc tower. When a video file opens, it automatically opens in full screen, even though it plays, no buttons at all on my keyboard or mouse respond, i've hit control alt delete, control enter, alt 1, alt 2, alt 3, alt tab, and tons of other combinations and nothing responds or works. Once a video file is opened, my PC is as good as locked up. I have played around with the video settings in WMP and nothing has worked to fix this problem, not even the options in view>videosize in WMP.

What can I do?

Please help me.

Thanks

have you tried openening wmp and trying to update it?. If you installed wmp10 uninstall it and go back to wmp9. If those don't work I really don't have a solution unless you want to switch media players.

Do all the windows updates, scan for viruses, scan for spyware, and quit downloading spyware and viral infected porn clips.

Alt + Enter will toggle you in and out of full screen mode. Like a few previous posters have mentioned I'd be sure that you are at least updated to SP2 before going any further.

Unless you like WMP for its all-in-one-ness, I'd recommend going with VLC media player for videos and something like Winamp or Foobar for sound files.
