TSN's picks to winRabid Ranger 12-20-2004, 04:22 PM Here's some insight from the guys at TSN (very objective IMO): http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/news_story.asp?ID=108705&hubName=world_jrs x Goodwill x 12-20-2004, 04:30 PM Canada is the favorite in my opinion!! Levitate 12-20-2004, 04:32 PM dunno, they all say something to the effect of "canada's goaltending is unproven, or a question mark, but that's not a weakness!" can't say i agree with that...having a question mark in net IS a weakness until proven otherwise. you look at the rest of canada's roster and then look in net... :dunno: it's the weak point on the team until the goalies prove otherwise Tricolore#20 12-20-2004, 04:34 PM TSN doesn't like its apostrophes apparently. espo 12-20-2004, 05:04 PM I'd go with what they say in the article.Canada's,U.S.A's and Russia's strentghs are as advertised and you can't count out those other teams. This is going to be a good tournament. RoyIsALegend* 12-20-2004, 05:06 PM TSN doesn't like its apostrophes apparently. No, it really doesn't like it's apostrophes. E&M 12-20-2004, 05:36 PM No, it really doesn't like it's apostrophes. You obviously like its apostrophes. chicpea* 12-20-2004, 05:39 PM It's always about the apostrophic skills of its web editors. mazmin 12-20-2004, 05:47 PM I think, at least, 9 out of every 10 years Canada is the favourite. Makes some pretty boring news, IMO. loadie 12-20-2004, 05:48 PM It's always about the apostrophic skills of its web editors. Exactly true, and TSN's must have had the afternoon off for shopping. Apostrophe be damned, it's almost Christmas. :D wilka91* 12-20-2004, 06:27 PM What a suprise. Canada has been the favorite every year since 1997. chicpea* 12-20-2004, 06:30 PM What a suprise. Canada has been the favorite every year since 1997. That's simply not true. Papa Smurf 12-20-2004, 06:31 PM What a suprise. Canada has been the favorite every year since 1997. No they haven't... wilka91* 12-20-2004, 06:48 PM Alright ... but almost, and I bet they were in McKenzie's mind! chicpea* 12-20-2004, 06:51 PM Unlike yourself (and me for that matter), McKenzie's not a homer. wilka91* 12-20-2004, 07:39 PM Unlike yourself (and me for that matter), McKenzie's not a homer. Definition : Homer 1. see Bob McKenzie ;) Seachd 12-20-2004, 08:03 PM Definition : Homer 1. see Bob McKenzie ;) You'd be hard off finding someone more objective than Bob McKenzie. Douggy 12-20-2004, 11:34 PM Definition : Homer 1. see Bob McKenzie ;) I think he realizes that Canada may not allways be the number one team, but its his job to promote the team, so that more people watch the team on his network. :teach: BobMckenzie 12-21-2004, 01:43 AM its his job to promote the team, : No, it's not. Of course the focal point for our broadcasts is Canada, but whether it's Gord, Pierre or myself, we call it as we see it. When we praise Canada, those who are looking for homerism will say they hear it, when we criticize Canada, the guys looking for homerism choose to ignore that. Whether Canada wins or loses, Gord and Pierre and myself don't lose any sleep one way or the other. It's called being a professional and what should separate us from the fans. But at the end of the day a lot of fans don't understand that or choose not to believe it. C'est la vie. Douggy 12-21-2004, 11:14 AM No, it's not. Well I understand that you're unbiased, all I'm saying is that your network is going to be covering all of Canada's games, not of the Czech Republic's games (for example). I think that people here called you a homer because you mostly talk about Canada. Well why would you spend all of your time talking about any other team, when TSN (usually) carries only Canada's games?? (This year is different) The network wants people to watch the games, So they need to get people to get pumped up about the team. Most of my friends haven't heard of more than 3-4 players on this team. But by the end, everyone I know is totally on the band-wagon by the end of it. I'm not trying to say that Bob isn't objective, because everyone knows he is. All I'm trying to say is that its his job to talk about the Canadian team. Macman 12-21-2004, 11:28 AM Bob, if you're still there, why isn't TSN showing more games from this tournament? I'd love to see the U.S.-Russia game, for example. Hell, I'd love to see all the games and I don't think I'm alone in that. Especially since there's a lockout, why not? Seachd 12-21-2004, 11:34 AM Bob, if you're still there, why isn't TSN showing more games from this tournament? I'd love to see the U.S.-Russia game, for example. Hell, I'd love to see all the games and I don't think I'm alone in that. Especially since there's a lockout, why not? I was wondering that too. It's kind of disappointing that more games aren't going to be shown. Vlad The Impaler 12-21-2004, 11:39 AM Pierre McGuire predicts a win for Canada. Thus, pigs are not flying yet. BobMckenzie 12-21-2004, 11:45 AM Bob, if you're still there, why isn't TSN showing more games from this tournament? I'd love to see the U.S.-Russia game, for example. Hell, I'd love to see all the games and I don't think I'm alone in that. Especially since there's a lockout, why not? Here's the TSN broadcast schedule...as near as I can tell, we are doing the U.S.-Russia game, but on tape delay from the night of the 25th to the morning of the 26th. In addition to every Canada game, we are also doing a Czech-Swiss game, a Belarus-U.S. game, a U.S.-Czech game and both quarter finals, both semi finals, the bronze medal game and the gold medal game. That's a lot of days with two games. It's a sweet schedule unless you live 10 000 kilometers away... You guys just don't know how much I envy you! I just hope the better days for me are yet to come...   Kaiped Krusader 12-21-2004, 12:39 PM Hey, Bob, I've just challenged you to a game of Space Invaders in the Arcade. When you see Pierre next, tell him I want a piece of him too! U-S-A!! U-S-A!! ar_emihcrd 12-22-2004, 08:34 AM Unlike yourself (and me for that matter), McKenzie's not a homer. There's nothing really wrong with being a homer however wilka being one does not change the fact that McKenzie is probably biased as well. You are employing 'tue quoque' to counter his argument which is a fallacy. McKenzie works for the Canadian media and do you think he'll predict that Canada will lose? Not unless it is obvous. But of course he's done so before and that went nowhere. salty justice 12-22-2004, 03:01 PM Canada is the heavy favorite to anyone looking at the rosters. But they were last year too and look what happened :p: I think having Sutter behind the bench for them is going to help, so is a guy like Fraser. They are built more like a hockey team than an All Star team. Jazz 12-23-2004, 01:32 AM What a suprise. Canada has been the favorite every year since 1997.Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say in a different thread that you have not followed this tournament in the past? SSJTOM 12-23-2004, 02:24 AM Keep up the great work Mr.McKenzie  stugotz 12-23-2004, 02:19 PM Where is Maggie The Monkey's Picks? :dunno: | ||
