Valiquette lost his fifth in a row, one in a shootout, though the Pack have been outscored 10-5 in those games. Defenseman Bryce Lampman (back) missed the last two periods.

If Lampman is out, maybe Glenn or Rawlyk will get called up? Or will Gernander move to D and maybe Lawson up front??

Good its only his back...usually back injuries dont last more then a week....unless they are really serious.

Why would you want Gernander playing defense when there are other alternatives out there? That makes absolutely no sense. There is supposed to be plenty of depth in the organization. Let's do the smart thing and play players where they are best suited.

So far off the AHL website there have been no callups so hopefully Lamps is back for tonight.

There's also the possibility that Grenier might be close to coming back...not that I've read anything really since he got hurt, but the time frame is getting close from their original estimates.

Hopefully, Bryce is OK. If we do need another guy, we'll be down to #11 on our depth charts.

Calling up Rawlyk or Glenn would not make the fans at the Checkerbard happy, that's for sure. Even with acquring a defenseman, the Checkers are shorthanded on an 8-game roadtrip. Brandon Cullen was just put on the 30-day IR and they've got 2 injured defenseman as well. (As far as I can tell, it's sometimes hard to get accurate info from echl.com and gocheckers.com and checkersfan.com obviously can't report first-hand when the team's on the road.)

Bet the Rangers are missing Tyutin now. But, this is the way it goes when you are rebuilding.

Tyutin's getting the best possible experience he can right now given the circumstances. He's at least playing in a near NHL league, against and with a lot of NHLers. It also gives someone else a chance to get out of Charlotte (Taylor, Liffiton) to show their stuff.

Hey, I'm not complaining, but let's remember that Tyutin really didn't want to leave.

Go back and read the quotes from the Hartford Courant if you doubt it. And nowhere did I say that Tyutin was "forced" to leave. He did, however, express displeasure about it.

I'm sure the organization did it because they wanted the younger prospects to gain experience closer to the coaching staff in Hartford.

That's now how I recall it at all. I remember watching the Pack game soon after it was announced, and I could have sworn that Tyutin asked and the Rangers granted him the right to go back to Russia.

Unfortunately the article is now archived (and it costs you to view them), so I can't tell you either way what was actually said.

Here's a quote from the Hartford Courant I found in an earlier thread about Tyutin leaving:

I'm not very happy to leave the team after [13] games," Tyutin said. "I'm not very comfortable, but it wasn't up to me. The Russian team called the Rangers, who asked if I wanted to go. I want to play against better competition."

Doesn't sound like Tyutin was the one asking to leave.

Thanks Brook...I hadn't seen that quote before, seems kind of strange the Rangers would do that. In their defense, Tyutin easily looked like the best player on the Pack when I saw him play and he wasn't being challenged...pretty tough though to have to travel half way around the world.

It doesn't surprise me at all that the Rangers would "encourage" him to go play in Russia--I agree completely that he wasn't going to be challenged at all playing in the AHL this year. And add to that the idea of being able to bring up Taylor and Liffiton from the ECHL and I'm sure the Ranger organization was very happy to show him the door. Of course, going north to St. Petersberg in November must have been less than thrilling and having to adjust to a completely new team and sytsem was probably a shock too.

Have you seen anything on how he's doing?

Unfortunately no, just his stats. He registered his first goal last week and has an assist in about 8 games...I'm still trying to find someone who follows St Petersburg, but they're not one of the most popular teams (crowd sizes rival the Pack's).

He is however playing for Russia in the ROSNO cup, the second of the three Euro cups and scored a goal in Russia's 2-1 win. In fact here's the video:

Russia's in Red, and Tyutin scores the second Russian goal (commentary in Finnish)

Well I can't claim the glory on this one, the link came from a poster over on the Russia board here at Hockey's Future.
