When hockey resumes play when ever that is i can tell all us Ranger Fans one think, and all of you know this, but we are going to be a team that is not going to be taken lightly anymore. I write this because of the instigator the other day. He goes by the name malberti. It wasnt the comment he made by how we runied the NHL, it was the comment he made about Jozef Balej saying we got nothing in return. Now this was idotic beacuse we got a great winger and a second round draft choice. With all these prospects, future draft picks comming, and an owner who will spend money at will(saying if we needed a free agent) we will be Stanly Cup conteneders in a few years.

Well I will say Sather did pick the best possible season to throw away the team and rebuild.

The guy's not even a great AHL winger. He showed lots of speed but no real hands in his NHL stint last year.

At best he's a second line winger.

The sorry truth is that the Rangers ARE a team that will be taken lightly for the next three seasons. If many of Sather's picks and acquisitions don't pan out significantly, the team will be taken lightly for the next 5-6 years and more.

Balej is just having a rough year. He was atop the league leaders in the AHL last season.

Maybe but since I'm not a particular fan of the Wolfpack, I just can't care. The question is, what can he do for the Rangers? (This is also Smithp's line of thinking.) He certainly didn't look like a great player in his callup last year. He looked like Radek Dvorak. Except he didn't score as much. And he played less defense.

In his [Balej] proffesional call up last year, showed me nothing to be to excited about .He will be a good second line 20- maybe 25 goal scorer .Thats in my opinion.

If he didnt score as much or play defense like Dvo does, then how did he look like Dvorak?

Dvorak was one of my favorite Rangers for the 3 years he was here, and hated to see him go.And I dont know if u think balej being simialr to Dvorak is good.I think it is very good personally, especially in giving up Kovy who was tottaly useless and NYR was not going to resign anyway. If Balej turns out like Dvo I would be pleased.

That was actually kind of the joke. The only area in which a comparison can be made is in their speed.

If Balej becomes another Dvorak, that would be fine. I wouldn't do backflips because Dvorak doesn't excite me as a player, but he's a nice 2nd liner, and that's about the best we can expect from Balej, IMO. I only hope we can get that much because he hasn't shown it at the NHL level yet.

we got a great winger. To your statement about Balej no NYR didnt get a "GREAT WINGER", but a "GREAT WINGER" is what type of winger Heatley , Kovalchuk, Nash , Iginla will be etc..... Balej will not be or was even ever considered a great winger well by me atleast and im sure the rest of the hockey world.

The kid will most likely be a good second line winger and will probably turn out like Dvo or even a Hlavac type of player which neither is bad, and no Hlavac is not that bad he had 2 good seasons with NYR before being moved.

Why does this word "GREAT" get used to described every "GOOD/DECENT" prospect that comes around and puts up some quality minorleague/whatever league #'s?I just dont know.

Thats understandable, but, players like Jagr ( the ones that make you do backflips) dont come around often. So with that then what kind of player does excite, cause in all reality NYR does not have one that could make you or me do backflips. And no one said to get excited over Balej becoming a Dvo typer playerbut would work out good considering NYR was not going to sign Kovy anyway and NYR did get a second rounder out of the deal.I dont think anyone expected NYR to get the next "GREATONE" in this trade.
