I think Graves to Stars for Langenbrunner was one that we could have done.

I remember Kovalev for Shanahan was being talked about for a little while. Would have been a good move I'd say.

Anyone remember who St. Louis was offering for Richter the year he blew out his knee?

Supposedly it was Jackman, who was still in Juniors at the time. I don't know if that was what was actually offered or if it was what we hoped was coming back.

Didn't Keenan want to trade Leetch for Coffey?

Wouldn't be suprised if he did. After all, Leetch is "no f***ing Chelios!" :shakehead

Actually, it might have been Chelios he wanted to trade him for.

There was that Ziggy deal with the Fishies that feel through (something like Harvey, Sundstrom and a first for Ziggy and another player, can't recall who).

I don't remember Chelios or Coffey, but I do recall hearing that Keenan wanted Bourque. There were rumors of a deal that was something like Patrick, Amonte and Richter for Bourque and Moog. Don't know how credible those were.

There were various Keith Tkachuk rumors over the years.

There was Smith's refusal of a Malhotra, Sundstrom, Cloutier and a first to Vancouver for Bure trade.

that other player was Rich Pilon who we got off waivers later on. See if we do wait, the players get older and we dont give any youth up. :shakehead Maybe we will get Tkachuk off waivers at age 39 in a few years.

sather had a deal to send graves, york & pilon to washington for chris simon, andrei nikolishin and jan buls...deal fell thru when the caps tried to get graves to forfeit a clause that kicked in if he was traded

there was the richter, fleury, lundmark and brendl to phoenix for khabibulin and tkachuk...rumor is the deal just needed fleury's ok cause he had a no trade clause when fleury checked into rehab killing the deal...

and probably the worst of all is the rumored deal that sather and pleau agreed to a richter for jackman deal and sather wanted to announce it after that days game so richter could play that afternoon in chicago, during the game richter blew out his knee

As much as I loved Richter, I would love to have Jackman right now. I was at the game that day with a friend of mine who was a Blackhawk fan. We were riding up on the train talking about the pending trade. I believe it was a President's Day game. And as soon as he got hurt, I remember looking at my friend saying, "there goes the trade!".

What a disaster. I remember exactly what went through my mind when I saw that inury, no more trade with STL. Jackman is exactly the stud blueliner we have been needing the past few years. If Jackman was here, I bet the Poti trade would look a lot better, just because Tom wouldn't have to do it all.

Plus in hindsight the Tkachuk and Khabby trade would have been great, although we all thought Lundmark and Brendl were the keys to the future at that point ( at least I did).

and know that we had picked a couple LEMONS! One couldn't skate (brendl) and the other could be pushed off the puck by a 100 year old grandmother! here we are 6 years later and both are busts.

not to beat a dead horse, but I'd say its too early to call Lundmark "a bust"

The Phoenix trade was Fleury, Mike York, Kim Johnnson and Brendl for Travis Green, Tkachuk and Nick at Nite. The best part of this trad eis that we probably wouldn't have ended up with Lindros and Poti. enough to drive a guy to drink.

Lets see if anyone remembers this one, the great Scott Frasier for Doug Gilmore, I believe it was either the year Smith signed all of those free agents, fluery, kamensky, etc, or the year before, it was very strange because it was reported that it was just about finished, and then the deal fell apart. Also there was when Kevin Stevens was supposed to be traded to a contender, but we all remember what happened on that fatefull night in St. Louis :speechles

yea I heard a rumor Fleury was with Stevens. I wonder if that was actually true. And what bout the wonderful Kevin Hatcher to Canes for Bates Battaglia?

not only were lundmark and brendl considered franchise players, but at the time richter was playing great and was healthy, fleury was arguable the best player in the league and khabibulin hadn't played in 2 years...who would have known that fleury would soon be in rehab, richter would blow out his knees and have his career cut short...

some deals look bad at the time but this is one deal that looks much worse in hindsight then it did at the time, so i can shake my head and wonder 'what if' but can't really kill sather for not making the deal cause at the time i'm not sure that i would have
