NFL: Week 11

Denver is killing New Orleans early, 14-0. I'm stoked because every single play has involved my fantasy players. Droughns has 60+ yards rushing and a TD, Lelie has 70 yards recieving and a TD.

The Steelers/Bengals game is what I'm watching. Randel El just had a big punt return and the Steelers are pressing. But the drive before, the Steelers were on the 14 yard line of the Bengals, took a penalty and then they had two straight sacks and made us punt.

Lions with an early lead over the Vikes, but it is still early. Eddie Drummond is the man though, 3 TD's off of punt/kick returns in 2 weeks.

He's got nerve if he's counting on catching another TD to do this "infamous" celebration that he's been talking about all week.

I think it's safe to say that James won't be back in Indy next year. Colts going with a no-huddle offense and Peyton just keeps firing it from the shotgun.

He did something, but it was just sort of a typical TD celebration. Then he sort of ran down the side of the field looking at the crowd making motions with his hands like he was bringing up the dollar bills. Then he saluted the crowd and that was about it.

:dunno:

Johannes Climacus

That's the Big Ben I'm used to. :amazed:

Nice scramble to find Randel El wide open for a TD, but Oliver Ross was holding so it's coming back. It was a legit call. 3rd and 17 now. Roethlisberger sacked. This is ugly early for a Steeler fan.

WOO!!!!!!!

Perfect TD for the Steelers for me! Farrior with the interception and the TD, and best of all, he's on my fantasy team! Yeah!

10-7 now.

As a side note, New Orleans can't buy a break. They got all the way down to Denver's one yard line, took a five yard penalty on third down, and then threw an incomplete pass, and had to settle for a FG. It was a long drive too.

Hideous half by the Steelers...

Willie Williams is playing like he was against Dallas(aka, horrific), Oliver Ross is playing like he was last year(aka laughable), and just a bunch of bad plays overall.

If that was the big TD celebration Johnson was talking about color me unimpressed. That was...dumb...

Johannes Climacus
11-21-2004, 12:29 PM
dumb to say the least.

I'm not worried yet. The thing I notice is that even when the Steelers are playing horribly, they are still well within striking distance.

Also, Bettis has been running very well today.

Very true. Dominic Rhodes is a good enough running back for them to use next year and so forth. They're going to concentrate on re-signing Marvin Harrison, and then maybe trying to sign a good defensive back or lineman.

Never say never, remember, it is the Lions the Vikes are playing against. 19-15 Lions, with plenty of time left on the clock.

On one hand, I'll be happy to see the Vikes choke against the lowly Lions (and it would show just how important Moss really is), but on the other hand, I would be mad since I picked the Lions to lose and it would drop my winning % in the HF picks thread.

Johannes Climacus
11-21-2004, 02:23 PM
Well, Brees and San Diego marched right down the field and scored in under 6 minutes. The game is supposed to be on CBS but I can't get it here because of the Steelers local post game show, so I'm stuck watching the Eagles, which means that I might watch McNabb spite me and have a huge game because I benched him.

But I don't know. The Eagles can't stop the run, which means Portis should get a lot of carries and a lot of yards. Which means more possession time for Washington, which translates into less attempts for McNabb, and less TDs and yards ultimately.

Also Washington seems to have a good defense on paper.

Conversely Drew Brees tore up Oakland a few weeks ago, and Oakland sucks against the pass.

Yes, I've thought way too much about this fantasy decision. :help:

Also, stinking Edgerrin James registered 27 points against me, or else I would be breathing more comfortably right now, because I'm having good days from several players... I really miss Holmes, and winning this week without him would be big. I need Blaylock to really step it up. Good thing I didn't going with Kevan Barlow. He sucked again this week.

yeah, the fumble wasn't his fault. Henson looked good for the little bit that he was out there. definitely something positive. I was listening to the post game press conference by Parcells and he said that with Testaverde getting banged up(shoulder), that Henson will likely start.

also, Julious Jones looked good. he got 81yds on 30 carries. I know it's not 4yds a carry but it he was running against Baltimore too.

I thought he looked good too. It's kind of hard to get a respectable YPC when you're hit cleanly behind the line of scrimmage at least 9-10 times due to shoddy blocking. And yeah, it was Baltimore.

Colts should do fine. Looks to be a flooded market for RBs next summer.

Names available, either via trade (all for a 2nd or less) or FA:
-Henry
-Bennett/Smith from MN
-James
-Ricky Williams
-Rudi Johnson
-Lamont Jordan
-Anthony Thomas
-Dominic Rhodes
-Larry Johnson
-Buckhalter
-Plus your normal assortment of rookies entering via the draft.

EDIT: and a big neener-neener to all you 'Vikes are choking as usual' pundits! For a team lacking their best player, they have done quite well. Only bad game of the year was the Giants flame-out. Eagles game could have gone either way and both the Colts and Packers were decided on the final play. The defense still stinks and will cause them to be an early out in the post-season, but the Vikes have not choked. Losing to all 4 of the 4-12 crowd is choking. Dropping 2 games on the road to quality opponents by a FG with Moss out while time expires is not.

11-21-2004, 04:07 PM
Not ready to give up but with the next two games against Minny (probably with Moss) and Pittsburgh, today's Jags loss may be the one that keeps them out of the playoffs. Up 13-10, Greg Favors at DE pummels McNair in the endzone for a safety. 15-10. On the kick return, Troy Edwards takes it up to the 50. Jags go downfield and set up a 45 yard attempt by Scobee. He misses it of course. An 8 point lead there would have been huge. Instead Tennessee marches downfield for the score and the two point convert and ends up winning the game.

Now that Tomlinson is almost back at full strength(37 carries, 164 yards and TD  ) I'd like to find a defence down the stretch that can slow the Chargers down with the momentum they have. Kansas City twice, Denver(battle for the division lead), Cleveland, Tampa and Indy(should be a killer game to watch!) Gates has another 100yds and a TD. Man. Earlier in the season he made the exact same type of tackle on T. Calico (out of bounds mind you) and the result was extremely nasty (both knees torn up, gone for the season). Yeah, he does have to make the tackle... I'm just still bitter about the very dirty hit on Calico in pre-season.

Eli had a solid game, made some mistales, but overall played well for someone making his 1st start. 2nd half was MUCH better than the 1st half. Although some of the passes dropped were not great passes, they were still solid passed. This game falls on the backs of the Giants Receiving core which had a bad case of the dropsies especially in the 1st half

The Chiefs defense knows no limits of sucking, though.

Sometimes, though, my calculations are off on the low side. Maybe they combine the recieving yards and rushing yards for players and count it that way (it's 1 pt per 10 yards). If they did it that way, I've won.

I just need the Chiefs to get the ball back.
