The official thread where you can post about your performance, or teams performance. I felt like this was needed. It can be about anything: house, pick-up, travel, juniors, college, etc..

As for me.. The latest game I played was yesterday, and we won 7-0. We played our own rinks other A team (The owners thought there was enough talent for 2 A teams.) but they were really like a B team. I had a wrister from the point, and it went in, it was the second goal.

Our "SCAHA" website is this: http://www.sportability.com/spx/Leagues/League.asp?LgID=6956 but it wont be updated till tomorrow. We're the Mariners(1).

Yesterday I reffed in my local associations annual novice tournament. I had the minor championship, the major consolation and the minor championship.

In the major consulation, a team was down 7-0 with about 14 minutes left in the third. They came back to make it 7-5 with about 4 minutes to go. They hit the cross-bar and had a few go *just* wide in those last minutes before the other team finally got an empty netter. Watching little kids that play well is more fun than anything else.

I had a game like that last year. We were down 7-0 going into the third, and then after I scored one in the first minute, we scored 4 goals in like two minutes, and then I got another one with 5 minutes remaining. In the final two minutes, I just hit the post, and they shot 'er down into the empty net.

We lost last night 4-2 to one of our bigger rivals. They're affiliated with a AA team, though, so half of their roster is AA players. Oh yeah, we also had a first year Bantam goalie(we're Midget) in for the first period, where he let it two goals.

We're 2-1-1 in regular season play, and we have two exibition wins, for a total record of 4-1-1. In those 6 games, I have 1 goal and 8 assists as a rookie, to lead all rookies in scoring, and I'm probably between 4th and 6th in total team scoring. What I don't get is how I'm still stuck on the third line. I have more points than anyone on the second line, and I play much less each game. Also, to boot, my coach gave us a speech last night on how he thinks assists should be worth 2 points each. So according to his system, I'd have 17 points, which would make me at least 4th in scoring, but I should stay on the third line. Kinda retarded if you ask me.

I am playing Midget A and our team is pretty strong. We won 7-2 today and I scored 2 goals and a assist. One of my goal was a little beauty, deked the goalie to the right and shotted to the left top corner, I was pretty proud. First goal was easy; a shot between the goalie pads, who made the stop, but the puck somehow trickled in. I'm a 1st year Midget (you play in this category 3 years) and for the moment, I've got 5 goals and 4 assists in 8 games. Probably best rookie on the team but I'm not sure.

We lost to the 2nd to last place team in the league. Our coach hasn't really taught us anything. (I'm not blaming it on him.) But all we do is go out there, and "wing it." We lost pretty big too 6-3. I had a shot from the point that I didn't get all of, but it went in. It was too little to late as that only made it 6-2. We're now tied for the last playoff spot, but the Valencia Express have more goals then us, so we are out of the playoffs, if they started today. And we have the Express in our next league game. Big game.

I played my first game as a RW on Sunday. Other than not knowing my left from my right while in the middle of the play, I got off a few shots (I'm still learning how to shoot so none went in yet-- had I known how to lift a puck with a bunch of people on me I would have been golden), set up effective screens on the goalie (she was maybe 5'4" in skates and I'm 5'9" out of skates), checked a few girls into the boards without getting called, and drew a few penalties. Granted one was for being crosschecked to the back of my head, but my mouth was running the whole game and got the other team gunning for me by the end of the first. One girl said she'd wait for me out in the parking lot after the game. It was awesome.

As a side note, I played in net later on that night and my legs felt like jelly from the earlier game... I run about 3-5 miles a day, so it's not like I'm lazy. Maybe I'm just not used to it just yet. But I have no idea how people can play more than one game a day as a forward if you're skating hard the entire time.

My team played in a tournament in El Segundo where the Kings practice, and it wasn't a good showing. We won once against a bad team, tied a B team, (were SUPPOSED to be a good A team) and got crushed by 2 good teams (8-2, and 5-1.)

My league is all mixed - we've got former NCCA, Minor League, and Junior A players out there with complete newbies..

My team had lots of mid range guys, and we got killed. we were 1-13-1 and got beat 6-0 in our playoff game last night..

I'm 27 and have been playing for three years now, and I had a good session individually. 3 goals, 4 assists splitting time between Wing and Defense..

That's a huge improvement for me. In last year's first session I had 0G and 0A playing D and in the 2nd session I had 2G (empty netters) and 0A... Scoring 3 even strength goals and getting a few A's was a huge improvement for me. I was 5th on my team in scoring out of 15 players..

The Gators are 10-4 in our Rec league, tied for top spot in our division. Goaltending has been questionable but getting better.

On the blueline myself, I was 1-2-3 scoring into the empty net for the 5-3 win in our last outing.

Next game....Saturday night....(Odd, I still feel ten years old when I have a game coming up. :) )

Yesterday I had a game and we won 5-4 after a comeback from 4-1 led by yours truly. :) I had a goal to make it 4-2, then drew a penalty, which led to another goal, and then I made a beautiful pass to make it 4-4. Then with about 4:00 left, we got a goal to make it 5-4 and held on to the lead the rest of the game. We only had 8 players yesterday and two got hurt, so I played about 20:00 in a 30:00 game.

I have played defense for nearly the whole season, and when I played forward for the first time this year a few weeks ago I put up a goal and an assist, but then went back to defense, which I've only played once in my life before this game. And by once I mean one/two shifts, so I suck at defense, but am a decent defensive-forward. We only had 8 players yesterday and two got hurt, so I played about 20:00 in a 30:00 game. I've told the coach that I suck at D, but am good at forward, and yesterday should have proved it.

I have another game today at 2:30, which is about an hour and a half away right now (It's 1:00). I'll let you guys know how we do. :)

I play in an adult league in Pasadena. I'm the captain of the "Blue" team. Last season we went 7-3-4, (first place in reg. season out of 5 teams) and lost in the Championship game by one goal, despite missing our best player, and one of our better players. This season, we're struggling a little more...we are 4-4-0-1 and in 4th place out of 6 teams.

Last Sunday we won...I think it was 8-5 final. Played our best game of the season.

Me personally, last season I finished 4th in the league in scoring. This season, in 8 games I have a grand total of 0 goals and 2 assists. I place the blame on playing the majority of the season on defense.

I play in a senior league in Moncton, NB... We played our last regular season game Monday night and won 3-0 (i'm the goaltender), but despite it being a good team we played, it was one of my easier shutouts as our team really shut them down... We finished 2nd in the league behind a team that hasn't lost yet this year (we tied them twice and got thumped twice)... Playoffs start Sunday...

our team just got bounced from the penguin cup (pittsburgh high school hockey) playdowns...first round exit...

basically, our team came in ranked top 8, although i got all league honors, i and our goalie are the only ones who really showed up for us...we finished 10-15-1, and in 14th place (16 teams get into the playoffs). we played the #3 seed who started 0-2 (had half their team suspended for something) and has won their last 24 games...basically they outshot us 50-4 and won 5-0...the games are 15 minute periods and i was on the ice for the first 28 minutes...i played an additional 10 the rest of the game...it wasa good effort, we just were unlucky to draw that team

Man you team must be good because you scored more goals then you had shots! Also its kind of hard to believe you played the first 28 minutes of a game. :shakehead

They could've put one in themselves...

Also HUGE week-end coming up for me in my travel hockey league:

We are 1 point in the playoffs in 8th seed. 2 Games this weekend, and my team plays two tough teams, as well as the 9th seed. Its gonna be HUGE.

Well the last league I played in was a roller hockey league we finished with a 13-2 record. Beat the previous 2 championship winners and lost to 2 ok teams. We made second in the division and lost in the first payoff game to the 7th seed. Our team was completley broken down and the guys that put the #'s , did nothing . We lost 5-4 in OT. That is my story, and yes I am willing to do an " e- true hollywood story ' on the famous life I lived.

i meant to say lost 5-0....if you read the thread i did say we were bounced in teh first round of the playoffs...i did in fact play the first 28 minutes too...i normally play somewhere between 35-40 a game, depending on the team...somewhere in the high 20s if its an easy team....we dont have alot of depth (5 d), and 3 of them are pylons....so i just stay out there until the game get out of hand or until i pass out

Just last week my team won the Joe Lamontagne tournament in Dartmouth/Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. Yesterday we won 2 games against Sussex to give us the #1 ranking in the playoffs over Moncton while we have a game in hand. I have 17g and 20a in 45 games playing mostly as the checking centre and on the penalty kill. With 2 games left we lost 4 players to suspension because the coach of the other team sent goons out to injure us in the last five minutes, so our coach took all the small players off the ice and let his son go (he is 6' and 220lbs). It was a complete shame it had to happen.

same here...there's a broad range of ability in our league...
a few former NCAA Div. I players (from Princeton, UNH, CC, LSSU), one former San Diego Gull, a few guys from Montreal/Quebeckistan, and a former Verdun jr. A level, and a few Minnesota prep school/academy.
then there's players like me
we're well represented internationally, too... Slovakia, Finland.

the team i play on, Red Leafs, were just eliminated last weekend from the semifinals... [CLICHE' ALERT] backs up against the wall, we were down 3-1 late in the 2nd and scored with under a min left.
midway thru the 3rd we tie it at 3, only to give up a goal with around 2:00 mins left... since our captain claims the pulled netminder has never worked in the history of our league, we remain at 5 on 5, cycling an entire min+ straight and tie it AGAIN with about 40 seconds left.. even the two teams that were there for the following semifinal game were going nuts (because they'd rather play us than the team with all the Montreal talent).. so we force it to OT, but are thwarted when they nailed home the heartbreaker and the series clincher.
have never been part of a game with quite this much intensity and emotion, likewise have not ever been this dejected after a loss (just turned 36 and i've been playing since i am 9)... since we were the home team my line was matched up every shift v. their top line... i am still covered with bruises over a week later, the Quebecker line was brutal, i imagine it was like a borderline NHL'er having to match up against a line of Messier, Forsberg, and Rocket Richard all in their elbows-up prime...a lesson well learned.
the most gratifying part of it is that this league is hella competitive and this was the first time in three seasons that we made the playoffs.
i didn't even take a week off, played some pickup yesterday but definitely felt the burn of a Sept-March season just ended.

We won it all the other night.

Game one we were down 3-1 going into the third, came back and tied it all up. Overtime came, and the rules for OT here are that we start with 3 vs 3. I am out to begin the OT period. They get some good chances to score right away, almost ended it within the first 30 seconds.

We take it down the ice, my bud passes it off to me and I take a slapshot just inside the blue line. Puck goes hard off the goalie's shoulder and bounces into the slot where our other guy is to put it in. This is how we beat them last year in game one of the finals, in OT. They were upset to have let that one slip away.

Game two was friday, and thats where we wrapped it up. It was close until the end when they started to lose it. Couple of their guys were tossed. This is the third year in a row we've played these guys in the finals and we've won it each year. We have their number. Dynasty!

Coming into the season we lost some really good players, especially on offense. We lost 4 guys, who each scored at least 20 goals. We maybe picked up one guy to replace 20 goals lost. Still thats 60 goals that weren't going to be scored. We also lost our starting goalie of three years. So I was doubtful of what we would do this year. We finished second last with a total of 8 wins in 22 regular games.

As for myself, I was happy to be captain for a second year in a row. Last season I had 34 goals, and 60 points in 33 games. This year I had 42 goals and 55 points in 30 games. Just didn't have scoring linemates this year. This was most likely my last year in this league and it was nice to go out on top. I had a tear in my eye when I went to get the trophy. I've been on this team for four years, with the same group of guys. When I first came to this league, I had reached double digit goals once before. I owe a lot to this league for making me a better player.

Good times.

Well, I played my first ever scrimmage style thing today, it was a no contact 4v4, no goalie thing we basically had to pass it around go end to end and hit a cone on the goal line but I enjoyed it. I can't skate though so I ended up falling down alot.
On the plus we won 5-0 despite my awful play...actual I think I did ok, some people were a bit impressed with my ability to fall down but keep the puck. Yes I play at a very low level, but aren't all the levels low in England?

I'll improve in time I'm sure.

It's not ice hockey, but my ball hockey season started tonight. I play defense by the way. Unfortunately, we came out on the short end, losing 6-2. The score looks a lot worse than it actually was, as I felt that we were no worse than the other team. We just need to build some chemistry together.

First half (in our ball hockey league we play two 25 minute halves running time) was fairly even. They opened up the scoring about halfway into the half, shorthanded no less! :madfire: Couple of minutes later, one of our D takes a great slapshot and scores...into our own net! That pretty much took the wind out of our sails and they took a 2-0 lead to halftime.

Second half started similar to how the first ended. They got a quick goal to take a three goal lead. That third goal seemed to wake us up as we got two quick goals to pull within one. I was in one the second goal, getting an assist. Ball was loose just outside the blueline, and I was in a footrace with an opponent. He had a step on me so I slid soccer-style (not into him :teach: ) and poked the ball up to the winger who scored on a 2 on 1. After those two goals, you'd figure all the momentum was on our side. Yet for some reason, we all just stopped playing. They score three unanswered goals, all on turnovers and two through a screen. Our goalie did what he could but the D wasn't moving bodies in front of him and the forwards weren't generating a sustained attack in the offensive zone. Shots were 25-14 in their favour.

All in all, a game to build on (trying to look at the positives here). A few things that we need to address such as breakouts. Ours was non-existant, they had WAY too much time to break out. Hopefully things will improve in next week's game!

I coach an Orange County (Florida) Police Athletic League roller team and we made it to the championship last night. The great thing about these kids is that every one of them is what they classify as "at risk kids" (that being poor, from bad neighborhoods, etc.). Every one of my players put their first pair of skates on with the PAL program and over three years, they have drastically improved.

Needless to say, the odds are against them being that they are playing against kids who have played their whole lives, but nonetheless, they skate hard and compete every night.

Anyway, onto our championship game. Long story short, it's a 2-2 game in the 2nd OT when we go on a 4-2 PK. We kill off the 4-2 (after being short handed for 3.5 minutes straight), one of my kids takes the puck up and shoots just past center and it sneaks in low stick side for the winner. I can't explain how happy these kids were (14u BTW). Nearly everyone there was rooting for us so needless to say the crowd reaction was awesome.

This is the 3rd championship I have won with this team and EVERY time they have to make it exciting (previously, they had shootouts so their past 2 were shootout victories).

Well, it has been a few weeks now since my winter league wrapped-up, and the sting of a heartbreaking playoff loss has finally worn off. We finished the regular season 6th in our Rec league division, good for the final playoff spot. The format was double elimination knockout.

We played the #1 seed in our first game and lost 5-4 in OT. So, one more loss and we're done. We then went on an amazing run and won our next four games, sending four teams home in the process. We were back in the final, but having to beat the very same #1 seeded team twice due to the double elimination format.

First game we gained a measure of revenge, winning 5-4 in OT. The next night we lost 5-2 with the other team scoring an empty-netter. It was their 4th game of the playoffs - it was our 7th game in 10 nights. We were pretty well out of gas, and our goalie was pretty banged up.

Anyway, it was a hell of a run. It was fun to put a streak together where we really played well as a team.

The Gators summer team after being unceremoniously dispatched in the winter league was the defending champions of our division.

Last year after a 2-3 start, a 13 game winning streak ensued, a single loss in the playoffs on the way to the championship.

This year, the league thought we were some hot stuff, so they bumped us a division. Needless to say after two early victories, losses of 9-1, 10-2, and 8-0 promptly ended the ill-fated experiment.

Last night back on track with a 5-4 victory(we played sloppy) with yours truly going 1-3-4. Although I did get clobbered with a dirty check on on of my helpers.(Non contact league people... :madfire: )

In the winter, our average age was 30+(6 or so guys over 40) so we went in Division 8.(So we won't be playing you any time soon. ;) )

We had a game at 7 in the morning! Well, supposed to be. The manager of the arena arrived at 7:15AM to open the doors. Everyone was waiting inside their car because it was freezing outside. We finally started the game at 7:30AM. Just too bad, because if we had started at 7AM, the other team would have lost by default because not enough players. We were leading 2-0 in the second half of the game against the best team of the division. We are struggling to make the playoffs. We'll know for sure next Sunday. They finally scored when their pointman took a shot and one of our player perfectly screened our goalie's view! They tied the game with a ball that was loose in front of the net. You could see it roll, roll and and roll slowly but surely in our goalie's direction. It went in. :madfire: Their third goal? I don't remember how they did it, but I remember the pain I felt. They won't blame it on me because I wasn't on the ice when they scored that goal. I had two break-aways, no one behind me, all the time and space you could dream of, and all I could do is to shoot a 3-mile-an-hour shot on the goalie. On both occasions, the goalie did not move an inch, which just threw me off. I think I played my best game since I started playing in a ball hockey league last year. One more year, and I will be an average player. I'm the oldest of my team, 41, but I have a big heart. I play to win.

I don't mind receiving advice from my teamates. I even welcome their opinions. They told me that I need to be more agressive and cover more closely my man. When the ball goes in the corner, I must be the first one on the ball, and fight for it if the other guy got it. I need to stop this bad habit of just waiting to see what the other guy is gonna do. I must be on him, and put him out of the play. This will come when I am in better shape. It's easy for others to ask me to be more agressive, but if I'm out of breath or if my back or legs are tired, I can't do much more.

1 - 1 - 0 in our exhibition games. Our first game of the season is Wednesday. Today we had a practise. In the draft of players for houseleague teams I was 2nd. :) First year of actually playing hockey!

We started our first game and won 11 - 9. I'm the only guy that plays defense but whatever. 6 assists in this one. The goalie on the other end was horrible in the first (all 11) then played brilliant in the 2nd and 3rd. He robbed me of a sure goal, I got a cross crease pass for a empty net shot. I didn't waste time and let it go. It went up and ... his glove was there while the rest of his body was sprawled out. Robbed me.

Second game I was double shifted because one guy on our dressed for the other. He sucked and tripped me several times, once I fell on top of another kid. Now he's one our team. We lost this one 12 - 10 but I handed out 9 assists (including a nice pass when being checked by two guys), still no goals.

So far in exhibition, I have 2 games under my belt with 0 goals, and 12 assists.

This morning in practise we took shoot-outs, break-aways, 2 on 1s, 2 on 2, and 3 on 2s. On the shootouts I was 4/5 while nobody else scored. (he can only be beat 5-hole) So expect for me to gloat about our wins because of great goalie.

Edit:

Well I played my first ever real houseleague game, scored a goal and 4 assists.

We are currently 6-0-1 and tied for first in our division with Arnprior who are also undefeated we have played really good this year we've beat some good teams but the only time we played Arnprior they were all over us and we were lucky to have came out of the game with a 4-4 tie, because they were winning 3-0 going into the 3rd we scored 4 goals in the final 10 minutes in the 3rd, I scored the goal that made it 4-3 with 50 something seconds left! but with like 20 seconds left in the 3rd we're still winning 4-3 I lost a BIG faceoff in our zone and the defencemen left a wrister go that handcuffed our goalie. :shakehead

We are 1-1-0. It's our second season together, and we'll certainly do better as there are two individual teams in our divisions. As usual, individual teams do poorly. Our goalie improves each game, we make better passes, and we have a few new guys who added greatly to the value of our game. Also, it helps when you get those tall guys who, thanks to their long arms, are hard to get the ball away of them.

Just came back from a crushing loss to UC Riverside. They scored in the last minute of the game, giving them a 5-4 win. I did okay, I was a little rusty after not playing for a week but I managed to get back into form in the second. It was a chippy game, with UCR getting away with alot of slashing and cross checking calls. We really need to beat UC Irvine next week, we're 2-2 right now, we tend to do a little better when we're above .500.

My team got our first win (4-1) last night; we're now 1-1-2. No points for me (RD) but I've made a number of really good defensive plays and nearly got a goal and/or an assist off a deflection last night--sadly, both missed the goal by inches.

Finished as the top team in the league

36 wins, 8 losses, 7 ties

We are currently in the league championship series with a 3-2 series lead.

I finished the season with 64 goals and 13 assists for 77 points, I dont really like to pass most of my assists come off rebounds. The funny thing is that i am the captian of the team and my line has another guy like me who doesnt pass, and the LW guy passes all the time, he racked up 82 assists this season with 14 goals.

In the playoffs i have 22 goals 1 assist in 13 games, my RW has 17 goals 0 assists in 13 games, and the LW has 2 goals 36 assists in 13 games.

We finally got over .500 (3-2-3) with a win Saturday.

First game this season that things got a little out of hand. This team had come back to tie the game with 1.5 seconds left last time we played them, so when we got up 3-1 we tried to shut them down. That was probably a mistake; they started pressing and got a goal to make it 3-2. With about 40 seconds left they took a penalty, then pulled their goalie. At about 10 seconds left, one of their forwards took a shot which our goalie covered; the forward slashed at the goalie's glove to try to knock the puck free, and the goalie slashed him across the chest in response. Things got kind of ugly, with three of their guys yelling and shoving. I didn't even think about it, I just ended up in the middle of the scrum somehow, trying to push two much bigger guys away from the goalie. :D Fortunately nothing really rough went down; the refs called two coincidental minors on each team.

After that, the timekeeper went to sleep and forgot to start the clock on the next faceoff, so we had to stand around for a couple of minutes while the refs discussed that. At one point one of the refs announced that the game was over, but they ended up deciding to play out the last 2.13 seconds. Unfortunately the timekeeper put 2 minutes and 13 seconds up on the clock, so the ref just counted 2 seconds in his head and ended the game.

So it was an exciting end to a pretty hard-played game. :D

In my first season of adult ice, having not played ice since I was 12, when I converted to roller because the cost was the same to play travel roller as house ice. We are playing in the middle of the three D leagues, the rink offers three D leagues a C2 (between d and c) four C leagues, a B league and an A league.

So far we are 4 games in and we are 3-1. We have given up 12 goals and scored 14 so you could say we are good at winning close games. We started out with 3-2 win, followed by a 4-3 loss the next week. However the last 2 weeks we have won games by scores or 5-4 and 3-2. Currently we are in third place in our league behind two undefeated teams. One team has scored 33 goals and given up only 6 in their four games and the other has 15 goals for and 6 against. Coming up this week we play the Vixens, a team that is made up of mostly females and is in last place with a record of 1-3 (last week they lost 7-1) so we are looking to improve to 4-1 for the season.

Personally I am doing well back on the ice. I got my first point with an assist in our second game and added a goal and an assist in our third game, including the eventual winner. In our last game I scored the 2nd goal on a shorthanded breakaway after the puck got away from one of their defenseman during a powerplay. I then assisted on the game winning third goal. I also added two penalties, one was a tripping call, went down to block a point shot and as the defender side stepped I swung my stick along the ice in an effort to disconnect the puck and his stick but took out his feet instead. The second penalty was late in the game when backchecking on a 2 on 2 and our goalie made the pad save then covered the puck and as their winger went by he took a nice hack at our goalie and our d-man sent this guy into the boards and was skating away when the guy decided to go after him so I am holding this guy back and basically everyone on the ice ends up behind our net in a scrum, nothing but words being exchanged as gentleman take out some workplace induced frustrations :madfire: . Well the genius who was hacking at our goalie decides to tell me to **** off and tried to spit at me, but ended up with a nice big loogey on his half shield (not sure how he managed that one  ) so I gave the guy a nice facewash and the ref flips out and gives me two minutes for roughing saying I started it all when I was attempting to diffuse the situation the whole time. Either way we ended up hanging on for the victory.

I haven't played since January, when the first half intramural ball hockey at my university ended. I was something like 9 GP, 0 G, 0 A, +22 as a blueliner. I wasn't on the court for a goal against until the last two games of the playoffs.

My brother plays Peewee C.

Preseason: 3 GP, 1 G, 1 A, 2 Pts, 7 PIM
Regular season: 9 GP, 8 G, 0 A, 8 Pts, 16 PIM
Playoffs: 2 GP, 3 G, 0 A, 3 Pts, 6 PIM

Team lead in bold.

The funny thing is, he was playing defense until about 4 games into the regular season, when his coach moved him up to LW. He proceeded to bag those 8 goals in a stretch of three games (3 G, 2 G, 3 G) and was then held scoreless over the final two games of the season before again going on a tear in the playoffs.

This was his 3rd year in hockey. In his second year, he set a team record for assists by a defenseman (25). Next season, he's moving up to Bantam. Due to low enrollment in our town, there are only two Bantam clubs- a AA and a B. He's been working hard since hockey's ended, and I really think he stands a shot at making the AA team. He's big, absolutely vicious (as his penalty totals indicate :)), and has one hell of a slapper. But his best asset is his creativity.

A couple shifts into his first game as a forward, his team had the puck in their end on a draw. The centreman won it, my brother scooped up the puck, and proceeded to fight through first one hit, and then another along the right boards before getting away just inside the blueline. The goalie bit on a backhand deke, went down, and watched as my brother calmly walked around the back of the net and deposited the biscuit into the empty basket.

His second of the day was almost as beautiful. All alone in the slot with the puck on his stick. Deke to the left, deke to the right, pass off his skate, shelf.

In warmups over the last few games of the year, he could be seen practicing the Malik move. He's still a little sloppy at it, but give him the summer. I can't wait to see what he does next year. :)

First game of the season was tonight. We won 3-0. Really good skate, our defense was solid and we scored some timely goals. One of our centers kept taking penalties but we were 3 for 3 on the penalty kill and he kinda redeemed himself when he scored the 3rd goal (PP).

I wasn't happy with the way I started the game, skated kinda sloppy and was playing too deep on defense (I'm right wing) cause I didn't want them to center the puck. Eventually, I settled down and started agressively guarding the points which help kill the penalities and actually had a few scoring chances later in the game.

This is my first season playing in a league -- I've only played in pickup games before. We're 0-2 so far. I'm playing defense and I'm a -4. We were up 1-0 against the best team in the league until about 7 mins left in the 3rd. They went Sabres on our *** and won the game 3-1. They took advantage of our penalties, and scored to goals 5 on 3 and 5 on 4.

I did ok... 1st real game in 3 years. I had a nice scoring chance but missed the net. Also I almost got a little break away, I decked this kid open ice and woulda had about a 10 foot break away but the puck went a little too fast and the goalie got it.

Goalie kept us in the game, but overall not a bad team effort for our 1st time playing together. The team we faced has been playing for a month or two now.

Id also like to note that I was even on the night!

I've been everywhere this year. I stared the year in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) with the Kamloops Storm and played in 8 games with them before being moved to the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) where I played 13 Games and had 1 Goal accompanying 11 Assists and 59 Penalty minutes. I've decided to go home and focus on work and am back at home right now trying to find a local team to play for which is probably the best of all three BC Junior B Leagues. I'm currently practicing with the Abbotsford Pilots of the Pacific International Junior Hockey League (PIJHL), and am hoping to play for them by the start of the next weekend.

Our 7th game of the season was tonight. 3-3 tie, although it could've gone either way. I scored the first goal and was robbed on 2 breakaway chances, the center on my line had the second goal and was also stopped on a breakaway.

I felt we should have won this one. We were down 2-1 in the second, and eventually made it 3-2, then had a two man advantage that we didn't capitalize on, my line had 7 short-handed shots on goal and they still managed to tie it with 3 minutes left in the third. We are now 3-1-3 and in 2nd place. I can't wait for next weekend's game.

We were a new team to the league three years ago. I didn't play the first season but they went winless. Last season we were a .500 hockey team, and this season we are at the halfway point and solidly in second place. We have one more chance to beat them and God I hope we do it!!!:banghead:

We skated hard with them all night; it was tied 5-5 in the 3rd, and i had 1 goal and 3 assists to go with it. With 11 seconds left in the damn game, I got a penalty shot. Went for the deke to the backhand and just couldn't get enough lift on it. Went into the goalie's pad, game ended in a 5-5 tie. That's gonna haunt me.

About halfway through the season, we are 4th out of 6 teams, but we've been playing well as of late.

Tonight we had 2 games, back to back, 8pm and 9pm. We took the first game 3-2, and it was against the 2nd place team. In our second game, we won 4-2. We scored 3 goals within the first 5 minutes. We're lucky we built up a lead early because we were all just dead. There were only 4 defence and 6 forwards, and our goalie stood on his head.

I finished the night with 3 goals, 3 assists, 2 pims, and +3.

I was playing a level up from what I usually play on Monday night, when the rep team called me up. Much, much faster pace, and it was really noticeable. Probabbly one of the reasons I had a decent 2 games.

Had to settle for an 8-1record in intermural hockey at college, with the one loss being the championship game but my old prep school team is dummyin their opponents this year so at least I've got that to boost my spirits.

Just curious, did you guys pretty much dominate every team? As a goalie, I actually hate playing on teams who just dominate every other team and I enjoy being on terrible teams more ,even if it means you lose most of the games. I just find it insanely boring sometimes when you face barely any shots a game because your team is so much better.

Well, our season finished awhile back, but I thought I'd fill you guys in.

I was playing in the 'A' league this year, and we finished the season in 4th place, out of 6 teams. Started the season off terribly but got our stuff together towards the end.

We lost out in the first round in a best-of-5 3-1.

My stats looked something like this: 31|22|17|39|106

Thats good for 1st on my team in goals and PIMS. Too much cellying after snipes I guess haha.

I'm hoping to move up a league next year, but I won't be too disappointed if I don't.

In my hockey league we have 2 leagues 1 and 2. 1 is for the lesser talented 2 is for the talented. Last year i played in 1 and had like 2 points a game. i went to 2 this year and averaged just under 1, i didn't think it would be that much of a difference but it is, i need to add some size.

my spring in house league ended 3 weeks ago and we went 10-0 with me leading the league with 8gms 16g 17a 4pim in the playoffs we crushed our first round opponent 9-0 and in the championship game we faced a tough team they went ahead 1-0 early and we were gettin nervous then i scored a nice backhand into the corner:D but the other team got a break and kicked the puck in:shakehead to make it 2-1:(
when my teammate placed the nicest shot over their goalies shoulder to make it 2-2
so its tied with 3 mins to go and we were shorthanded i was playing the point on defence where i pick off a lazy pass and im on a break and time just slows down and i remember thinkin what should i do i got about 15 ft from the net on the left wing and start to cut in and the goalie thinks im dekin and puts his stick out to poke check and i just slid it in five hole with 2:30 to go then our goalie came out big the other team got a break away with their best player at 00:17 second and he gets our goalie slidin and shoots it to open net only to find our goalies glove and the building went nuts:yo::yo::):D

won by a goal today. Got one but felt like i shoulda had more. Some kid tripped me up off a face off, and it was really intentional, plus he had been hooking and slashing the whole game. So while I was on the ground and the reff raised his arm, the kid goes "i didn't do anything!" so, in hindsight....i probably shouldn't have swung my stick into his legs. But damn his denial pissed me off, plus i didn't do it very hard =p but i still feel bad cause he was younger than me haha.

oh, he got called, i didn't, and the reff was right there so i'll just call it even for what he did the entire game.

Men's rec league. We are 2-11-1-0. We should have three wins because in the game that we tied the other teams goalie got kicked out and the game should have went to a shootout [which we would have won by default].

Anyway, I play D, in my first year playing hockey, and have 0g, and 2a. I'm not as bad as the points would have you believe. I'm just a stay-at-home D-man that isn't overly physical [non-hitting league] and isn't overly aggressive [which I need to work on]. I also, don't join the rush very often. Got my first penalty the other night :sarcasm:.

We've had a couple lop-sided games like 20-1 and 16-2 and some others like 9-3 and so forth. Our main problem is that every game we barely have enough players to ice a team. Sometimes 7, sometimes 8. I mean, I love the ice-time but it gets to you, especially when its your first year and you're not used to it. It's stupid. We have the core group of 5 or 6 guys that ALWAYS show up but we're the ones that have played hockey in forever or it's their first year so, of course we get slaughtered. Our more talented guys never show up.

But alas, we played our first play-off game 2 days ago against the top team in the division [4 division, we're in the bottom one, and we are the 8th of 8 teams]. It was 1-0 after 1 period [we played them once in the regular season and it was tied 3-3 with 3 minutes to play and they won it, so it's not like they were that amazing] of play but then our goalie decided to **** the bed and we finished 8 or 9-1. Their goalie also stood on his head. Our 2nd of 3 playoff games is today and I hope we pull out a win. We haven't won in so long, it would be really nice.

i just play in a rec league and i joined my team midway through last season because they were in need of guys. i said that i'd come back for them again this year and that was a huge mistake. i've only played about 20 games and only have 3 goals and 3 assists to speak for, the team has been abysmal as we only have 1 win so far (approx. 1-28-1) and it's got to the point where guys just don't try anymore which is disheartening. the real bad news is that apparently they might not ask me back next year because of my "lazy" play which even i can attest to on occasion. it's just hard to go out and skate a hard shift in an 8-1 game. so there's a chance i won't play any winter next year. luckily i have a spring team as well which is younger and faster so i can look forward to that.

saturday night we had our 11th game of a 14 game round robin.
(just so its clear, Im assistant coach for the team)

we were playing a team from Abitibi (about 6 hours north of montreal).
They jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period. Our point leader then made it 3-1 before they made it 4-1. With two minutes left in the 2nd period our captain was awarded a penalty shot and he made no mistake with it deking the goalie to the backhand.
We went in the changing room down by 2.

to start the third we came out flying and tied the game after only 2:04 of play.
Abitibi however regained their lead just one minute later and then started to trap. We couldnt get anything going.

With three minutes left our third line manged to get a fast break 3 on 2 and put the puck in to tie it up at 5.

With 1:20 left as we were readying for a change up our player passed the blue line and threw it twords the net before comming to the bench...the goalie went to catch it but missed it. went straight in top corner.

was a great comback and a 6-5 win.

moves us up to 5th place out of 14 teams.
We gotta keep working. We should be in the top 2 but we got off to a very bad start in this round robin after winning the regular season by 9 points.

We got smoked twice today. I'm in a very casual no check/no slap coed league. I accidentally leveled my kid's Squirt coach, and I'm sure it looked intentional (my shoulder squarely between his nipples, him flying backwards...), but I apologized during the game and again after. I got a goal last night, and another today. Today's was a garbage goal - fired it on net and their D deflected it - but it made up for the one I tried to boot and sent past our goalie.

They wanted me to stay as an extra skater for one of the teams playing in the championship game, but I was dying after two games. I'm working on getting in better shape, but I'm apparently not there yet!

I played in a 10 game rec league two sessions ago but had to sit out the last two due to injury. Last session I played we won 7 of 10. I have 6 goals and 13 assist. We lost in the 2nd round of out playoffs. After that, first session i sat out, they won 6 of 10. this session 3 of 9. Last game is tonight. I didn't get to make it out there so I am waiting for my friend to get home.
I get to play this coming up session and I've had a lot of time to work off the rink. My puck control has gotten better. and i feel my skating has gotten a better the past few weeks from going to our stick n' pucks and working with the best skater in the league.

I get to go this wednesday and and get new gear. skates, stick, gloves, helmet, shin pads, and probably a new net to. there are so many holes in mine its not even funny.

i have 1 goal and 2 assists , no penalty minutes this season but had 24 last season...one more and i would have been banned :naughty: it's u16 in northern ireland, so yeah not very high quality play. a team came over from scotland, and walked the other teams, expected to do the same to us...first game was 4-1 with FIVE of our goals disallowed :yo: second was 5-1 to us, not sure how it went as i was injured, and wasnt able to go.

my ice team is 6-0-0

i have 12 goals, and 8 assists, it's an inhouse u16 league in dundalk. most of my inline team plays, and we're all split up, which means there's always something making you want to out play them...bragging rights!i stepped in for two games as they were short benched, both were my second games and i scored 4 goals and got a couple of assists.

Late by 2 weeks, but we lost the city Championship in OT after a shady tying goal that involved them pushing our goalie into the back of the net while she covered up the puck and counted it. I was kicked out of the (women's hockey) game for protesting it and threatening the ref that I'll crash their goalie into the back of the net and it better count.

don't get me started.. my team rolled through the regular season. Finished tied for first place in points, scored 30more goals than the next best team.. outscored the top teams 20-8 in head to head match ups, had the top three scorers...

and lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs.. why? idiots of whom I don't recollect playing with decided to show up for the playoff games.. FIVE count em FIVE guys who played no more than a fifth of the season leaving us with essentially 2lines all season showed up (and by the way they were the worst skaters with absolutely zero hockey sense).. fair's fair so we put them in.. of course the OTHER team pretty much rolled two lines of their best players over and over... my line with the leagues top three scorers became one of FOUR forward lines (so you can guess how much ice time we got) In the end I lost my mind at being behind to a team we'd destroyed in three games this season and demanded to be switched to defense.... the result? two assists to bring us close (5-4) but in the end we still lost...

2nd straight season of killing the entire league then getting ********d in the playoffs by the SAME idiots showing up all eager and s***** during playoff time.

I broke every single stick I had (except my new vapor XXX of course... I'm not THAT crazy) screamed at the entire team and quit right there (in the locker room)

No one even dared approach me as I changed...

I was pissed cause I've worked too hard this season to get back in shape after dealing with thyroid cancer and the inevitable toll it took on my body (hell there was a point where I could barely walk right) Dealt with radiation, surgery, ate right, worked out when my brain and body asked for a break, played my ass off for 4months, skated at every scrimage, stick and puck and public session I could find in order to get my hands, legs and lungs back, dealt with dizzyness and near fainting spells,... still played. Didn't really give a crap about my stats (though it was nice to see my linemates shred teams for about 4-5goals a game)...only to be ********* ROYALLY by a bunch of out of shape, idiots living in the glory days of their youth...

One of the few things that put a smile on my face during all the health struggles was the thought of getting back on the ice and once I felt better I figured why work so hard in the reg season if you don't intend to take it all the way?

sucks:cry: But somehow I'll live

thanks for letting me vent though:)

0-8. That's right, we stink, with a capital S. Although it would help more if we actually had 2 or so lines every game. We have had only 5 - 7 guys show up per game since like the 3rd or 4th game. Our goalie went AWOL, we've had some games with no goalie at all or if we do have a goalie, it's a fill-in. Everything is just a mess. Time to look for a new team ;).

My team was absolutley unbelievable, we won the first 20 (or so) games and won the district 7 championship. We moved on to the stats championship....so were up 1-0 with 1 period gone. We put one inthe net, the goalie gets pissed and pushes the net....The ref (who went to the school we were playing) said the net was off...we just accepted it since were up 1-0. 2 minutes later they score...about 10 minutes after than i rang one off the back crossbar, again called no goal... about 2 minutes left in the 3rd period, the ref deems it necassary to call a penalty shot, when our defensemen was checked from behind...of course they score, we lose, and i flipped out on the ref.

The rest of the season was great, i made a bunch of new friends and dominated my leauge

We went in a tournament final, but we lost 1-0 against some Quebec City rivals.
We went to the regional championships, and did not pass the qualification round, a virus affected the half of the teams. Fever, headaches, throwing up(those were the main symptoms)

We are going back to the championship game again to defend our title. Last year we won in OT like 1:30 into it. It was quite possibly the greatest moment ever. I was out there and I got to throw the gloves up in the air and pile on top of the guy who scored. We were the 3rd seed going into the playoffs and needed to beat the 6th, then 1st, then 2nd seed to win. We played so good in the playoffs and now we get to go again. We won our last game 7-6. It was ******* nuts. We had 4 and they had 10 and we still won. It is a 4 on 4 roller hockey league but we have 2 kids on the team who are big smokers and can barely make it a period. Like everything we did worked and everytime we had a scoring chance we capitalized. Now we go back to face the same team as we did last season. It is like a total reenactment.
