30. Ryan Getzlaf
36. Corey Perry

Could there be more? Stay Tuned!

Now I'm curious to see who these 29 prospects are that are better than Getzlaf. He should have been top 20.

Perry at 36 is fair.

So far Grigorenko, Eminger, Tukonen and Emery are ahead of Getzlaf. Of the four I only regard Tukonen as Top 30 worthy but I'd rather have Getzlaf.

Wasn't Getzlaf just so-so at the Rookie Tournament?

He was inconsistent...one game he floated...then he went out and was the best player and was making crazy passes to send Glencross in all alone...physical play and leadership he brings...I'd take him over a Grigorenko any day...

Perry finally gets some recognition, while Getzlaf doesn't. I'd rank Getzlaf top 20, but hey, that's just me.

Maybe Smid and/or Bryzgalov (after his World Cup performance)?

Edit: I'd say the 9th best organization in the league should have at least one prospect in the top 25.

I thought about that for a second...but how could they pick Bryz or Smid over Getzlaf. Seems unlikely.

Sorry, but no Bryz in the top 50?
Getzlaf that low?

No love for the Ducks prospects once again

Edit: Now I see it's only from 26-50. I will keep the comments on Bryz if I see him in the top 25 then, but Getz is too low anyway IMO.

After seeing Bryz in the World Cup I find it very easy. He played like a #1 goalie.

well time for him to pick up the baby Ducks and show us he's a number 1 goalie.

He made the top 25

#24

If you expect him to get a shutout every game, that's asking alot. Currently when they lose they only score 1.4 goals on average...

I was rather impressed when I saw they had ranked Bryzgalov ahead of Getzlaf. If you noticed, Bryz is an 8A and Getzlaf is an 8B in the player ranking. I think Bryzgalov has the potential to be a top #1 goaltender whereas Getzlaf is less likely to be a star #1 centre. Getzlaf is ranked higher in the top 20 due to his value to the organization (centre with size and skill).
Getzlaf being ranked lower, is in my mind, re-affirmed by the recent stripping of the captaincy and reports that I've received from Calgary about his effort. Only recently did he start to show effort on the ice (coincidentially, this is also when he started scoring). Naturally, he starts to try and then starts to run his mouth....
When Getzlaf was drafted there were scouting reports about a cocky attitude and other behaviour issues. Ever since then, he has at times been accused of indifferent play and a lack of effort on the ice, which made his naming of captaincy a surprise to me.
Anyway, Getzlaf has the talent, it's just whether he wishes to use it that's the question. Mike Babcock was in the stands for his latest two 10 minute majors, so I'm guessing he didn't impress his future coach much.

I wonder what Babcock things of Getzlaf, off the record. He saw his lack of discipline in his most recent trip, although he also saw him dominate at times.

One quote that stood out in my mind when talking to Getzlaf last year was that he said Babcock kept yelling at him all camp (2003 camp) to keep moving his legs. To me that's more of an indication of coasting, or being lazy.

I'd love to hear what Babcock has to say over a beer on Getzlaf, because I can see both sides of the coin on him.
