Bring Back Bucky 11-06-2004, 06:26 PM The Hall of Fame is always a contentious issue amongst hockey fans. Since there's nothing better to do, let's see who belongs in and who does not amongst some of the "quesitonables" who are in and those who are not. Vote for up to 7
Zetterberg4Captain* 11-06-2004, 09:05 PM Bernie Federko

mazmin 11-06-2004, 10:18 PM Hawerchuck, Neilson & Gartner FOR SURE.
Mullen and Neely are close.

Edler Statesman* 11-06-2004, 11:45 PM Hawerchuk, Neely and Neilson.
Bring Back Bucky 11-06-2004, 11:47 PM Hawerchuk, Neely and Neilson.

John Flyers Fan 11-07-2004, 02:15 AM Ducky .. and that's it.
Epsilon 11-07-2004, 06:08 AM I voted for Hawerchuk and Gartner, and would have voted for Neilson but missed his name.
Puckhead 11-07-2004, 11:31 AM No love for Buchberger? :dunno:
If the vote was for someone who should never take his helmet off, he would have my vote. But not for the Hall...NO WAY!
Big Phil 11-07-2004, 02:41 PM Of all of the guys Hawerchuk is the best of all of them, followed by Neely. I voted Hawerchuk no sweat.
Douggy 11-07-2004, 06:32 PM I went with Howerchuk, Lowe and Nielson.
Doomsday Device 11-07-2004, 06:47 PM Me too (did you realize you could vote for more than 1?) I did and Hawerchuk was my one and only still.
there's even more I'd like to throw out starting with Harold Ballard (rot in hell)
Yeah, I realized it but Hawerchuk was the only guy I felt was deserving.
Malefic74 11-08-2004, 01:35 PM Hawerchuk is the only deserving player on the list. Others like Neely, Gartner, Lowe and Anderson are borderline.
Neilson gets in for innovation, not for his coaching numbers. As a junior coach he was a master at defensive systems and was the first to use video to study the habits of his own team and the opposition. Teams nowadays can't even conceive of coaching without video and they ALL use aspects of defensive systems Roger thought up in the 70s. To me Neilson is the easiest "in" on the whole list.
Bring Back Bucky 11-09-2004, 08:44 PM Now three of you have shared my love for Buchberger. ANyone care to start a write-in campaign to the selection committee???
Lard_Lad 11-09-2004, 11:32 PM Scary, isn't it, that we seem to be doing a much better job of choosing than the official committee does?
gr8haluschak 11-10-2004, 02:36 PM One that is not on the list but should, no MUST be going in to the builders category is Bill Hunter, it is sad that some are still holding grudges against this man for what he did for hockey in the west.
GentlemanOfLeisure 11-10-2004, 03:59 PM Isnt Hawerchuck already in the hockey hall of fame???
John Flyers Fan 11-10-2004, 04:11 PM Isnt Hawerchuck already in the hockey hall of fame???
Yes, as is Gillies, Federko and Mullen.
Habsfunk 11-10-2004, 04:31 PM How in the hell are people not voting for Mike Gartner? The guy scored over 700 goals! What does he have to do to be considered HoF worthy by the 21 of you who didn't vote for him?
I went with Gartner and Hawerchuk.
GorgeousFrankenstein 11-11-2004, 05:23 AM Anderson, Gartner, Mullen.
Slewfoot 11-12-2004, 03:43 PM Yes, as is Gillies, Federko and Mullen.
So is Gartner.
neg marron 11-12-2004, 05:26 PM Hawerchuk, Neely and Neilson.
how could you leave out neely proof that the hhof is frigging clueless
also add herb carnegie to that list if hobey baker's in so should he add tretiak and valerie kharmalov also
Malefic74 11-12-2004, 06:21 PM How in the hell are people not voting for Mike Gartner? The guy scored over 700 goals! What does he have to do to be considered HoF worthy by the 21 of you who didn't vote for him?
I went with Gartner and Hawerchuk.
Gartner had some very good seasons no doubt and his longevity and productiveness are his arguments for being in the Hall. For me though I have to look at a guy and think he among the top two or three players at his position for a period of 4 to 5 years to be worthy to stand alongside the greats. You could never say that about Gartner. Top ten absolutely, but not top three.
Hawerchuk, you could arguably say that behind Gretzky and maybe Savard or Stastny, that he was right there for a few years. Can you throw Gartner up there with Bossy or Kurri? In my opinion no.
I honestly think that the HHOF is way too easy to get into and have long thought it should really stiffen the criteria. You aren't the first to accuse me of being too tough and I'm sure you won't be the last.
Accord 11-14-2004, 12:46 AM Dale Hawerchuck, Cam Neely, John McLean.
CH Wizard* 11-18-2004, 10:37 PM Hawerchuk , Nealy , Lowe.
Nifty=HHOF 11-19-2004, 11:55 PM Cam Neely, Dale Hawerchuck, and Mike Gartner in that order
jiggs 10 11-20-2004, 02:25 PM Ducky, and (barely) Gartner. That's it, end of discussion. NO Cam Neely, no Kevin Lowe. They were never among the very best to play the game for ANY stretch of time, let alone as all-time greats. Hawerchuk was one of the top 4 players of the 1980's and early 90's, scored over 500 goals (even though he played on some TERRIBLE teams in Winnipeg and Buffalo and Philly :D ), and was a total class act his whole career.
Neilson can MAYBE get in as "builder" in a few years, but over-all his coaching record was not good. He had a LOSING record, actually. He was a great innovator, though, and for that he deserves consideration. And if he makes it, I won't be upset. Far less worthy people are in there right now.
Dale Hawerchuck
Cam Neely would be the only other one I would consider.
The G Man 11-23-2004, 11:28 AM Just Hawerchuk.
Neely, Anderson and Gillies are the next closest (in that order)
hotgoalie11565 11-23-2004, 10:44 PM Paul Henderson
Cam Neely
Neal Broten
Roger Neilson
