as an oilers fan from the old school, i have to say the devs are my fave post 90s team...theyre the best recent cup winner, managed like the red sox...
oilers actually traded the chance to draft parise based on his small size, so, im wondering what devs fans think about his chances in the big team...post scott stevens

I never bought the idea of size being a huge advantage. Its not the size, its how you use it. I look at results. We drafted Parise to play first line center, and he definately puts up results showing that he is capable of it.
He's not a wimp. He uses his size very well. Sure, he's not going to be Zdeno Chara out there, but his size isn't a huge factor. Look at Viktor Kozlov. He's a monster... but he's soft.
Its kind of like drafting a baseball player based on running speed.

I'm not at all worried about Parise, he is the kind of player that works so hard that he will make an impact in one way or another. Even if he doesn't put up great offensive numbers he will still be an effective NHLer. I don't think that will be the case however.

The Red Sox are managed like us... not the other way around :)

Not worried. The days of big tree players are gone. It takes talent to win in today's game. Not shoe size. Parise could be five foot nothing and still make it. As long as you've got the skill and ability to play the game without getting killed, you're going to get noticed.
Any scouts still basing players on size are too old to be scouting. The game has changed. Small guys are BETTER than big guys. Unless those big guys are mobile. How many big hockey players are truly mobile and highly skilled?
If you can take a check or avoid them most of the time, you're golden. Some guys can't do it. Simon Gamache, a tiny guy, ripped the QMJHL up and people wondered why he was passed up in the draft years ago. He's a softie. He doesn't get involved, he doesn't lead and he can't take hits. That's the way it goes.

Ask the same question in 5 years. We'll see if the Oilers look back and wonder 'what if'....
