I guess tickets are selling very fast MissionHockey 10-25-2004, 06:49 PM I wish he'd play against some tougher competition, but I'm sure he'd rather play near his home. Does this mean he will be playing the Trenton Titans? wingram75 10-25-2004, 07:01 PM I wish he'd play against some tougher competition, but I'm sure he'd rather play near his home. Maybe the Aces will meet Trenton in the Kelly Cup Finals? Holly Gunning 10-26-2004, 09:55 PM Maybe the Aces will meet Trenton in the Kelly Cup Finals? Nope because believe it or not, they are in the same conference. It's North and West in one, South and East in another since these two divisions are tightly packed. Jamie1 10-26-2004, 10:06 PM woohoo idaho at alaska 10/29 :p: I will try and get some pictures the game is sold out can't even get tickets from gomez DevilFisch 10-26-2004, 10:09 PM Nope because believe it or not, they are in the same conference. It's North and West in one, South and East in another since these two divisions are tightly packed. That...makes no sense. Like Dallas in the NFC East kind of no sense. Shucks. The Conference Finals then? I want to see Gomez in NJ again. Winston Wolf 10-27-2004, 04:38 AM Cool, I'll definitely go see him November 9th. Just to see Gomez is well worth the price of admission to an ECHL game. Niedermayer21 10-30-2004, 01:20 AM I believe Gomez is making $500 a week playing with his buddies. Igor Larionov offered him a million bucks, or something close to that figure, to play in Russia. And Gomer turned him down. Pretty amazing for a modern-day athlete. This kid is cool and should never be traded from the Devils!!! I hope that SI or THN or one of the other major magazines does a feature on Gomez declining to play for big bucks to stay near home and play with his friends. BTW, how long do you think it will take before he leads the league in scoring? Jamie1 10-30-2004, 02:45 AM I believe Gomez is making $500 a week playing with his buddies. Pretty amazing for a modern-day athlete. he did go over to russia but said he didn't like it so he came back. Tonights game is over and he got an assist and a shootout goal the arena was two over capacity with 6,453. I will be at tomorrows game if you want to listen to the game it should start about 7:30 alaska time at www.alaskaaces.com http://alaskaaces.com/news/story.cfm?ID=212 Anchorage, AK - Scott Gomez fed Chris Minard for the equalizer late in the second period, then scored in the fourth round of the shootout, setting the stage for Charles Linglet's game-winner one round later in a 3-2 Alaska win over San Diego before a club-record crowd of 6,453 Friday at Sullivan Arena. tbr 10-30-2004, 08:13 AM How can he say that he's not taking anyones job. It sucks to think that some kid trying to break into pro hockey couldn't play in the ECHL because Scott Gomez took his spot. I might be cool to play in your home town, but if I were other players in the ECHL I would be pissed off. Jamie1 10-30-2004, 09:19 AM How can he say that he's not taking anyones job. From what I am hearing BJ young might be let go but he runs his own business and he is about two or so months out of game shape tbr 10-30-2004, 12:47 PM Of course he has. I'm not talking about one specific guy. I'm saying in general there's one less spot because of Scott Gomez. Jamie1 10-30-2004, 01:48 PM it's not like they were bringing in anybody else. And they still haven't cut anybody golfmade 10-30-2004, 03:44 PM Of course he has. I'm not talking about one specific guy. I'm saying in general there's one less spot because of Scott Gomez. And there's a lot fewer spots in the European, Russian and other leagues. Jamie1 10-31-2004, 01:34 AM tonight he got two assists and my nephew got his hockey stick. It's one thing if you lose your job to someone inferior, but how can you be pissed when the person replacing you is 100x more qualified and can do the job 100x better? It's just sour grapes in that situation. People look at this like it's something more, but in reality it is just an occupation and the most capable worker should get the job, IMO. tbr 10-31-2004, 08:54 AM How do they have a right to be pissed? Why isn't he playing at the highest level possible. Gomez playing in the ECHL is a joke for him. How can you be pissed, well the fact that he doesn't need that $500 a week is a place to start. Tere are guys out there not playing because Gomez is. It is supposed to be a developmental league, not a league for NHL ALL STARS. The fact that you can't see anything wrong with this is ridiculous. DevsFan30 10-31-2004, 10:15 AM The guy is playing in front of his home town fans. The team saved a spot on the team for him, FCOL. He is bringing in a lot of revenue for the team that they would never have had if he decided not to play for them. Sure, somebody isn't playing because of him but since they saved a spot on the roster for him and wanted to have him, they didn't need to cut somebody in favor of Gomez. golfmade 10-31-2004, 03:27 PM Why isn't he playing at the highest level possible. Last time I checked the USA was a free country and one could do what they wish. AJ1982 11-01-2004, 01:21 AM Why isn't he playing at the highest level possible. It's a developmental league, but last I checked, there weren't too many NHL affiliated prospects on Alaska's roster. Don't mean to be a negative Nancy, but I'd be surprised to see more than a couple of their younger guys make it to the AHL. Right now, I'm sure they like playing in front of a sellout crowd at home.
