"Cam is energy and toughness," Rats coach Robbie Ftorek said. "He loves to hit people. He's the kind of guy who never skates by somebody without hitting them."
With Rob Skrlac and Brett Clouthier already signed to handle the rough stuff for the Rats, it was uncertain if there would be room for a guy like Janssen on the roster.
"I knew they could use me out there besides as a fighter," he said.
Ftorek saw too much that he liked in camp to leave him off the team.
"He's got things he's got to work on, as we all do," Ftorek said. "But he'll never give you anything short of 100 percent. You've got to like that."
