ALBANY -- Pascal Rheaume, an original Albany River Rat and member of the franchise's only Calder Cup championship in 1995, will serve as captain of the team this season.

Defensemen David Hale, who played all of his rookie season in New Jersey last year, and Albany veteran Alex Brooks were named assistant captains. Brooks will miss this weekend's action with a back injury, but Ftorek said he expects him back next week. The Rats open Friday at home vs. Binghamton.

Good selections, I like them. Hale needs to have some time as a leader and Rheaume is the right choice for team captain.

I wonder if Martin would have worn an 'A' if he'd been on the team.

Good for Pascal. Hopefully this will help him get his career back on track after a tumoltuous 03-04 season.

Good move by Ftorek and the Rats to make a veteran like Rheaume the captain of the Rats... He will be a good leader for the younger guys there...

Hale will have more responsabilities. He's played in NHL and will have to stand out in AHL. That's a good choice with Rheaume as a captain. He's experienced and knows the Rats.

Hale will have a big part in this team as he is one of the "A" on the team along with Brooks... :) Hale and Rheaume are the leaders of this team IMO...
