McDonald19 10-14-2004, 12:41 AM Has Glencross replaced Chistov on the top line at even strength, too?
yeah I keep hearing Chistov and Holmqvist and I believe Perrault as the second line...
Spankatola Jamnuts 10-14-2004, 12:44 AM So the top line is what...Glencross, Brent and Lupul? Is Smirnov on defense?
McDonald19 10-14-2004, 12:45 AM 2 man advantage here for Cincy...Ducks need to tie it here...
0-6 on power play so far
McDonald19 10-14-2004, 12:47 AM So the top line is what...Glencross, Brent and Lupul? Is Smirnov on defense?
Yeah thats the top line
Smirnov is listed as a Center now...He's definetly not playing D...The third and fourth lines are mixing and matching so he is somewhere in there with Pecker, Stepp, Konopka, and Parenteau.
the D pairings are:
Malec-Foster
Popovic-O'Brien
Rome-Brookbank
McDonald19 10-14-2004, 12:48 AM Joffrey Lupul scores :yo:

Spankatola Jamnuts 10-14-2004, 01:16 AM Lupul's a damn madman.
Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 10-14-2004, 01:21 AM Is the AHL experimenting with shoot-outs this year? Or was that just an idea, but it eventually got nixed?
Spankatola Jamnuts 10-14-2004, 01:22 AM No, they're doing it.
MightyMatt 10-14-2004, 01:25 AM So they go straight to a shootout?
McDonald19 10-14-2004, 01:25 AM 3-3 at end of regulation thanks to Joffrey.
Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 10-14-2004, 01:26 AM No, they're doing it.

DUCKS WIN DUCKS WIN
McDonald19 10-14-2004, 01:46 AM 4-3 overtime/shootout WIN
Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 10-14-2004, 01:48 AM What a finish! Lupul, with a huge game, wins it for them in the shoot-out! Bryzgalov also had some nice stats.
I gotta question Shaw a bit, though. He scratches Kunitz(maybe there's a good reason why, but I missed it), and puts two defensemen, Brookbank and Foster, in the shoot-out lineup. Brookbank obviously scored, but I'm sure guys like Chistov and Glencross might've been better picks.
MightyMatt 10-14-2004, 01:49 AM Great win. It sounds like Lupul he had one hell of a game
Chistov23 10-14-2004, 01:49 AM Wow sounds like it was a very exciting game. I am surprised by how much Brent was involved in his first pro game, but the ducks are week on center's so I guess it is not to much of a surprise. Is kunitz hurt or in trouble for something? How about that Brookbank scoring for the shootout, thats crazy. Hopefully TSN or the score will have highlights of the game.
McDonald19 10-14-2004, 01:55 AM I gotta question Shaw a bit, though. He scratches Kunitz(maybe there's a good reason why, but I missed it), and puts two defensemen, Brookbank and Foster, in the shoot-out lineup. Brookbank obviously scored, but I'm sure guys like Chistov and Glencross might've been better picks.
I don't know if Kunitz has a minor injury or something but it's possible that coach Brad Shaw is sending him a message to work harder. The radio guys mentioned that Pecker earned a spot on the team and in tonights lineup by working hard so perhaps Kunitz was not working hard enough to play tonight.
I also think Shaw isn't a big fan of Chistov as he didn't play him in OT or Shootout.
190Octane 10-14-2004, 02:44 AM Maybe Shaw is the guy who invented the shootout lineups for video games where there are always two defensemen in them. Chistov would've been a much better pick than Foster or Brookbank.
I think Shaw might not be too bright of a coach.
sharkscribe 10-14-2004, 03:10 AM Great game by the Mighty Ducks. Well, great after the first period at least. Brent, Lupul, Pecker and Perreault were really buzzing the entire second and third period and had some great chances. Konopka was the only one that showed up in the first period but must have been benched for the rest of the game because I didn't see him out there. Defense played great all night and pushed the Utah forwards to the outside the entire game. I have no idea why Chistov wasn't lined up for the shootout but it all worked out in Cincy's favour. Great game and great to see everyone in the arena on their feet for the shootout.

Brookbank did score, though.
sharkscribe 10-14-2004, 03:21 AM Bryz had a great game but wasn't really tested, even though he saw 40 shots. He didn't have any chance on the first goal, the second was a wraparound that just snuck past, and the third goal was really controversial. From where I was at I don't know how it went in and I didn't think that the Ducks were going to send any players back out on the ice.
The defense did a good job of lining up the Grizzlies at the blue line and they were much more physical than Utah, especially Brookbank, Foster and O'Brien. Lupul really dominated and played well on the forecheck. Didn't get a chance to see Smirnov since he was in the penalty box nearly half the game and didn't see any of Chistov in the third. Glencross-Pecker-Konopka looked really good togther and Brent-Lupul-Holmqvist were the best line on the ice all night long.
McDonald19 10-14-2004, 05:28 AM Thanks for the comments Garner, are you going to the game Friday?
sharkscribe 10-14-2004, 12:41 PM No problem. I'll be at the game friday and I'll give you guys a better look. I was mostly focused on the Grizz players (obviously) but now that I'm familiar with the Ducks players I'll keep a closer eye out for them.
Fighter 10-14-2004, 02:26 PM With this choices by the coach, Chistov is not going to regain his confidence in Cincy.
I think he would benefit to be in a line with Lupul, they could form a good duo and Chistov would score something more with him.
Lyons71 10-14-2004, 06:02 PM Good game by Lupul!!!
...and Chistov continues his developement... :banghead:
Fr@nçois 10-14-2004, 06:45 PM Hi everybody and thank you for all your good comments. They're very appreciated for people who lives far from Cincy, in Montreal.
I would like to get some news about my cousin, Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau. How was he last night? I saw he had three shots, but nothing more. I wonder why he didn't put him for the shootout, he is very good for scoring goals. Anyway, some good guys like Chistov have not been choose so I think it's normal.
By the way, Cincy won the first game and it's the most important thing. Go ducks go!
Have a good season everyone!
PS: I hope my english wasn't too bad. I try to improve it.

I met Pierre-Alexandre at the Pacific Division Rookie Tournament in Anaheim in September. He was nice to all the Ducks fans and he had a good tournament. He was creating offense every shift he got out there and wouldn't back down from physical battles as well.
As far as the Cincy game goes we are still trying to figure out why the coach chose two defensmen for the shootout. Parenteau would have been a good candidate for the shootout and I'm sure he will be involved in one of the next shootouts that happens. I think Parenteau had a decent game but it is hard to tell just by listening to the radio broadcast. He seemed to be in more of a third line role and I'm sure at some point he will get more playing time.
Fr@nçois 10-14-2004, 10:57 PM Who's the best one between Parenteau and Perreault? Say the truth...!
McDonald19 10-15-2004, 01:51 AM Who's the best one between Parenteau and Perreault? Say the truth...!
Their progress has been so similar it's difficult to say who is better.
One thing I do know is that Perrault is going to get more playing time with Cincy because he is playing as one of their top 2 centers with Tim Brent, where as Parenteau is playing the wing and their is a lot of competition for the wing spots on the two scoring lines.
