Hellsempire 10-05-2004, 04:24 PM What a good game today played @ SMA with the Rats and the Phantoms... Rats win the game in the third period 4-2... Zach Parise scored the GWG on the PP to give the Rats the 3-2 lead... Parise was amazing and played great. Rats are 2-1 in the preseason... There were many reporters and media personel there along with Devils fans...
Here are the goal scorers for the Rats...
1st period...
Suglobov which tied the game at 1-1 end of the first period... Skrlac had an awesome fight in the first period... The first 8 minutes or so in the first period there were 5 fights between the teams...
2nd period...
Murphy scores on the PP for the PPG to tie the game 2-2 at the end of the second period...
3rd period...
Parise scores on the PP for the PPG to take the 3-2 lead and it was all Rats in the third period...
Voros scores the insurance goal late in the third period to seal the 4-2 win over the Phantoms...
It was a great game and many did look real good like Parise, Suglobov, Pihlman, Foster, Khomutov(had 2 break aways and just missed a goal), Janssen, Spencer and Hale who was hitting everyone on the ice...
Rheaume did not play and was a scratch...
Just got home from the game and it may be the only hockey to see this season...
Jason MacIsaac 10-05-2004, 04:25 PM WOoOOOOoooOOooOoO
I hate to ask but did Khomutov play with Foster....if so did they look nice together.

Yes he did and that line was playing great as well as Parise's line... :D Foster should have had a goal today as well... He(Foster) looks good and I hope he can stay healthy...
ratsgirl 10-05-2004, 04:29 PM Thanks for the report, Hells! :handclap:
Two questions (if you don't know, no big deal):
Who wore the 'C' for the Rats?
Who was in goal?
DownFromNJ 10-05-2004, 04:34 PM Anyone know where I can grab a boxscore?

Thanks ratsgirl... :D
Actually NO ONE wore the 'C' today... Alex Brooks wore an 'A' and Ray Schultz wore the 'A'... No 'C' on any of their jerseys... Very strange... :dunno:
In goal for the Rats was Matus Kostur for the first and second periods and the third period Robbie put in Scott Clemmensen...
BTW, for all who want to know, Zach Parise wore his #51...
c-carp 10-05-2004, 04:46 PM How did Cam Jannsen do in his scrap?
Thanks
Hellsempire 10-05-2004, 04:53 PM How did Cam Jannsen do in his scrap?
Thanks
He did pretty good as both were punching back and forth and Jannsen had the take down on the ice... As he was skating to the penalty box he had a gash or cut on his forehead which was bleeding pretty bad...

No problem... :)
ctynan44 10-05-2004, 05:38 PM Well with no Devils to root for at the moment, looks like I'll be turning my attention towards Albany and the Rats.
Go Rats!!!!!!

paxtang 10-05-2004, 05:44 PM what were the fight match ups?
I know Eager and Gratton fought twice, and Meloch and Skolney fought once, who fought for the River Rats and who fought who.
And also, who was scratched for the Rats? Thanks.
ctynan44 10-05-2004, 05:45 PM So do we know if Parise will keep 51 in Albany? I need to get some gear to show my support so I was just curious.... ;)

I wouldn't go shopping just yet.....I'm guessing everyone will be assigned new numbers under 30. And his old #11 is available.
Teezax 10-05-2004, 05:51 PM Neil Little was in nets?? For God's sake man.
What's up with that. But from the sounds of it, it must have been a real entertaining game with all the fights.

A 3 on 3 brawl! Damn, I wish I'd have gone.
Ok, confirmed matchups.
Gratton vs Janssen
Eager v Spencer
Gratton v Clouthier
There was a 3 fight brawl, so the box scores don't have the matchups, but the combatants were: Eager, Skolney and Meloche vs Hale, Cole, and Sklarc. Hopefully someone can get the matchups here in the brawl that went to the game.
Captain Conservative 10-05-2004, 06:06 PM Man I can't WAIT for the Rats to play the Bears in Hershey. Thats only a 2 hour drive for me and I'm definitely going up there to see it.
Jason MacIsaac 10-05-2004, 09:16 PM Albany has loads of fighters this year.....I love it. Skrlac, Janssen, Hale, DeMarchi, Clouthier (Who killlllllllled the guy he was fighting) and Cole can all throw the knuckles. Its scary how physical our defense is. :) Even Kesa is physical and will fight.

He better hang out w/Skrlac and Janssen more often because he got killed Saturday night. Gratton almost threw a shutout.

Oh I know.....but the thing is the guy fought and that means alot to the players and the coach. Neat fact is that Red Line loved Kesa in his draft year. They raved about his allround physical game. He stayed in Finland in mens league to tone his skills and it may have payed off.

We signed him for some reason... we'll find out.
Ronnie Bass 10-05-2004, 10:38 PM Hey Hells, will the Rats play at South Mountain again? Damn I would have called in sick if I knew! :banghead:
Jason MacIsaac 10-05-2004, 10:38 PM http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/shn/phil804.htm
Teemu Kesa/D - We really like the way he plays the game. Tough and edgy with a real mean, ornery streak. Pain in the butt to play against. Nasty - loves physical contact and likes to force the play. Makes a crisp breakout pass and moves puck well. One of the top prospects in the tournament. Plays with assertiveness - crisp and confident. Solid skater who plays with intensity. Good size.

Did you go to the game? How did the other fights go.
Jason MacIsaac 10-05-2004, 11:17 PM No I didn't....I live in Cape Breton :) I heard Janssen was bleeding in his fight but it was a draw between the former teamates. the other 4 weren't much of fights. All draws so I hear.

Ah, in the future, would you please state whether a fight report is first hand or not. Some AHL fight reports are hard to come by, so you can't get a general view from a bunch of a people and get a good idea of what really happened, you have to take the limited people who saw it and take it at face value. It's helpful to know if the report was firsthand or not. Thank you.

As far as I know the Rats will not be playing anymore games there @ SMA, but their camp is there every day to go and watch them practice until October 15th... :)

I am pretty sure it is between the hours of 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM as it was the first week of opening camp... You can call SMA and they will probably tell you the times... :)

For two weeks now, Albany, New Jersey's American Hockey League affiliate, has been down in Jersey for training camp. The River Rats will wrap up today and head back north.
