"TSN has learned the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim have signed Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf while the Florida Panthers have signed Anthony Stewart."
Spankatola Jamnuts 09-15-2004, 09:44 PM Why him and not Getzlaf I wonder. Is he old enough to play in the AHL?

My guess is the Ducks are working on Getzlaf's contract right now. They have to get it done by 9 pacific.
Perry's Bday is May 16, 1985
Getzlaf's Bday is May 10, 1985
so neither is AHL eligible unless the lack of a CBA allows under 20s to play in the AHL.

If they don't sign him and the lockout continues into next june (2005) could Getz re-enter the draft like brent? After tonight the team freeze comes into effect so maybe this is why we are signing them? I'm just guessing but that seems to be the only reason to sign them under the current CBA.

I met Getzlaf at the rookie tournament and he seemed like a great kid. He is going to be a special player for Anaheim.
Spankatola Jamnuts 09-15-2004, 11:20 PM Well okay then.
Cincy camp opens 9/29.
MightyAdam 09-16-2004, 12:30 AM Not to be rude, but you guys did not read the sentence close enough. Cause in the sentence, it said Getzlaf is also signed.

I'm resisting the urge and I'm going to be fair and polite.
The post was edited after they found out Getzlaf signed. At the time the information wasn't known.

Jerky Leclerc 09-16-2004, 03:41 AM Getzlaf and Perry get a signing bonus while playing in juniors. The Ducks don't risk losing them in next draft. Both sides win. Brent's former agent should take notes.
McDonald19 09-16-2004, 04:44 PM Getzlaf, a center-right wing chosen 19th overall, signed a deal that will pay him approximately $1.2 million annually if he plays in the NHL beginning in 2005-06. Perry, a right wing picked 28th overall, agreed to a two-way contract for about $1 million a year. Both will play junior hockey this season.

Perry, a first-round draft pick in 2003, is on a plane back to London from California after signing a three-year deal that guarantees him a $950,000 US signing bonus. Guy also represents Perry and his contract is the rookie salary cap of $1.240 million US each year.

Yes he is. I got to interview him along with Glencross and Perry. They all are a special group of kids.

When have you ever known a lawyer to care about right or wrong, good or bad??? If they have a client who ripped out someones heart, they will rationalize the reason and why their client is a sweet and wonderful innocent. Same here, it's all this crap back and forth while hockey, the fans and all those who rely on hockey to pay their rent and their bills suffer. You don't think that Bettman or any of the players could give a rats ass do you??? It's all ME-ME-ME.... :shakehead

You're right up to a point. Bettman has to "give a rat's ass" (as you so eloquently put it) because if they don't play eventually, Bettman's out of a job, too.
