My guess is the Ducks are working on Getzlaf's contract right now. They have to get it done by 9 pacific.

Perry's Bday is May 16, 1985

so neither is AHL eligible unless the lack of a CBA allows under 20s to play in the AHL.

If they don't sign him and the lockout continues into next june (2005) could Getz re-enter the draft like brent? After tonight the team freeze comes into effect so maybe this is why we are signing them? I'm just guessing but that seems to be the only reason to sign them under the current CBA.

I met Getzlaf at the rookie tournament and he seemed like a great kid. He is going to be a special player for Anaheim.

Perry, a right wing picked 28th overall, agreed to a two-way contract for about $1 million a year. Both will play junior hockey this season.

When have you ever known a lawyer to care about right or wrong, good or bad??? If they have a client who ripped out someones heart, they will rationalize the reason and why their client is a sweet and wonderful innocent. Same here, it's all this crap back and forth while hockey, the fans and all those who rely on hockey to pay their rent and their bills suffer. You're right up to a point. Bettman has to "give a rat's ass" (as you so eloquently put it) because if they don't play eventually, Bettman's out of a job, too.
