The Ducks needed to sign Brent because (1) after the two-year debacle the first-time they drafted him, they couldn't continue to hang him out to dry without creating a ton of animosity and (2) while the Duck's season may be in jeopardy, Cincinnatti will be playing all year long. Brent has a bright future. It's important to get him playing professional hockey ASAP. If you think that anything has changed with the GMs, then why haven't the Ducks bothered to sign their #1 prospect, Ryan Getzlaf?
