Reilly311 09-07-2004, 11:06 PM Ok, I know the US is undefeated without him in the lineup. (at least I think they are). Now, Tony Amonte is worthless. Hull at least adds a scoring threat. Do you risk it in a single elimination game? Oooo, the risks involved.
thrill_me_mogilny 09-07-2004, 11:10 PM On my watch, no. The guys have got their groove, and bringing Hull in now would muck it up.
Burnaby_Joe* 09-07-2004, 11:11 PM Let him watch on tv.
roast 09-07-2004, 11:34 PM Leave the teams as it is. While Amonte hasn't done ****, Hull's recent outbursts have done him no good. If he wants to be an ass during his final tourny, let him.
Drake1588 09-07-2004, 11:49 PM I might even take Amonte out and insert one of the guys on the bench in his stead, as his line has been stilborn. On no account would Hull play, had I any say.
Hull should retire from the game of hockey now before he embarasses himself anymore than he already has. He is pretty much useless as a hockey player right now. The Coyotes are in for a big disappointment.
chapel113x 09-07-2004, 11:58 PM Come on!! Hull is 100% US born and raised!
ALF AmericanLionsFan 09-08-2004, 12:59 AM The team has finally turned a corner now wouldn't be the time to bring him in although it is quite tempting.
Classic Devil 09-08-2004, 08:42 AM Amonte has played a strong defensive game, even if he and Weight haven't clicked offensively. That line, Amonte - Weight - Smolinski, has been a good checking line to go along with Konowalchuk - Halpern - Langenbrunner. I wouldn't change anything. They've won two straight, why mess with what's obviously working?
velimiiro 09-08-2004, 08:45 AM Reilly311 rocks my world!
cfrancis 09-08-2004, 08:53 AM Let him play the home version.
David Puddy 09-08-2004, 10:08 AM Brett Hull doesn't deserve to play on two counts. Firstly, he isn't half of what he used to be at his advanced age for an athlete. Secondly, his attitude is awful. Maybe he can claim Slovakian heritage and play for them tonight against Canada.

littleHossa 09-08-2004, 10:20 AM Brett Hull wasn't ready for the World Cup to begin with, he was about 15 lbs heavier than at the end of the season. He just found an exit clause and is sticking to it.
CNote 09-08-2004, 12:56 PM Come on!! Hull is 100% US born and raised!
i believe hull was born in belleville, ontario.
BruinsGirl 09-08-2004, 01:39 PM Anybody knows why Mr.Rolston isn't playing???
Is he still suffering "no-heart" problems :banghead: or is it some different injury?

he's been a scratch I believe, but he would be an asset on the PK and PP.
Vyacheslav 09-08-2004, 03:07 PM It would be nice to have a Brett Hull thread where someone doesn't bring up citizenship.

OT: Oh...Vyacheslav...Why did you pick this avatar? Ukrainian Hockey? With their 5 rinks? Ukraine doesn't care about hockey (I think).
Big Phil 09-08-2004, 04:27 PM Its good to see Hull get stabbed in the back for once (dont worry I'm not saying anything about citizenship) it does look good on him though. At 40 he's finished.
I say put Hull in the line up, when/if we play them in the championship game it'll be nice to see him on the sidelines crying - again! Either way if USA does get past Finland they'll be handed their bone when they play Canada. USA is just too old, so is Hull.
littleHossa 09-08-2004, 04:39 PM Well you didn't make this about citizenship, but you managed to make this about how bad team USA is and how team Canada will crush team USA.
Don't give up hope, you're improving!

Actually to be honest I dont even know if we will crush Team USA or not. You see they have to score on the "Kipper" first and I'm not sure they can. Then if they do beat Finland then we will demolish them in the Gold medal game. Do you honestly think that Keith "trash a hotel room in Nagano" Tkachuk would score 4 goals on Brodeur. Its the same as it was in '02. The Hull, Modano, Leclair line was so dominant until they played Canada. We may have lost our star defensemen, but Foote, Regehr, Hannan etc. are as steady as they come. They will shut down any top line.
DownFromNJ 09-08-2004, 04:59 PM Don't change whats not broken.

Do you risk it in a single elimination game? Oooo, the risks involved.I am a huge Brett Hull fan but I say Absolutely not. Brett isnt in shape right now and this team is finally playing well. Dont screw with the lineup.
burnlikestars 09-08-2004, 06:37 PM Amonte = hustle, but no scoring. Hull = no hustle and no scoring. So I wouldnt substitute him.
Vyacheslav 09-08-2004, 06:46 PM OT: Oh...Vyacheslav...Why did you pick this avatar? Ukrainian Hockey? With their 5 rinks? Ukraine doesn't care about hockey (I think).
Well, I'm interested in Ukraine and I got it off their website. So even if Ukrainians don't care about hockey, I do care about Ukrainian hockey. I'm sure hockey will improve there eventually, Russia overshadows all of the former Soviet republics hockey programs right now.
flyersrock1 09-08-2004, 09:37 PM Please put him in when they play Canada. ;)

This is OT but...:
I don't think Ukraine has resources to develop their program, unfortunately. I am from Ukraine. Belorussia is 4.5 times smaller than Ukraine but they have 10 rinks vs 5 in Ukraine. Their president (Belorussian) while being evil, loves and plays hockey!
There is great youth hockey school in Kharkov(my homecity). You probably heard about team Druzhba-78 that went to Canada for competition and decided not to return...But hockey programs are more serious than any programs I know here. From very early age (6-7) kids have 2 practises a day , before and after school...but as they grow up they get drafted by Russian teams. I don't even know other professional teams in Ukraine except Sokol(Kiev) and new team Vityaz' in Kharkiv, but I don't follow it anyway.
Mxpunk 09-08-2004, 10:32 PM Hull shouldnt play the rest of the tournament. What he did was incredibly selfish and unprofessional. After all, he played horrible in the first 2 games of the tournament. He whiffed on slap shots, refused to hustle, and even tried to cherrypick! The problem is that he's too slow to cherrypick. Even though Amonte isnt doing much, he still adds hustle and will go into the boards.

I'm not disputing any of that, of course, but maybe somday this will change. I didn't realize that Lukashenka was into hockey, though.

Thanks for the info, very interesting.
Freudian 09-09-2004, 08:56 AM He had his chance. And he didn't bring anything useful to his team. So the coaches are doing the obvious. Using other players who are more useful for the team. I am sure that stings the pride of Hull but that's life.
